SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A local casting director making it big in Hollywood after signing stars for a movie hitting theaters Friday.The movie, The Last Full Measure, is based on soldier William H. Pitsenbarger, Jr. who rescued more than 60 men during the Vietnam War. Casting Director Iris Hampton fell in love with the script the first time she read it, "I couldn't put it down, it was so beautiful." She was born and raised in San Diego in a military family and married a Marine Veteran, bringing the plot close to home.Hampton got into the business during a vacation to Hawaii. She said she went to the Magnum P.I. office and asked if they needed any help, "they said not right now, but why don't you come back in three months? So I came home, packed my bags and I went."Since then she's worked with big names like Chuck Norris and the Power Rangers. "I am going on my 28th and 29th season of that show," she said referring to the Power Rangers.Seven years ago she signed on to The Last Full Measure. The movie follows Pitsenbarger, Jr. during Operation Abilene in the Vietnam War. He descended from a helicopter while troops were under fire and rescued as many as he could, before he was killed.The film then follows the men who worked for decades to get Pitsenbarger, Jr. the Medal of Honor. "It ended up being 32 years they fought for him to get the medal of honor," she said."Pitts was a hero and a legend," Hampton said paratroopers idolize him.With a deep love and respect for the military, Hampton said this project is the pinnacle of her career.She signed stars like Samuel L. Jackson, Sebastian Stan, Jeremy Irvine,Christopher Plummer, Ed Harris and the late Peter Fonda for the movie."I was just so proud and I am just so proud of each and every one of them," she said she can't wait for the movie to hit theaters so San Diegans can see it. 1856

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Point Loma family is trying to raise awareness of what they call a “dangerous” intersection, after cars have slammed into their house.The home the Cohen family began renting this year sits at the intersection of Nimitz Blvd. and Evergreen St., and has been hit twice since they moved in.According to San Diego Police, officers have responded to collisions at that intersection at least twelve times in the last five years.“I went to go wake up my mom and told her that we should probably get out of here because there's a car going into our kitchen,” said 12-year-old Max Cohen, speaking about a crash that happened the week the family moved in back in January. “You look out the window and see cars speeding down the road and not stopping at all on this turn.”Before they started renting, the Cohen’s weren’t notified that the home had a certain reputation for being hit. 10News reached out to the homeowner, who says that information was also not disclosed to him before he purchased the house this year. The City of San Diego tells 10News it is aware of the history of the intersection. Over the years, many cars have slammed into the house on Nimitz Blvd, sometimes resulting in serious injuries to the occupants in the home.A City spokesperson said upgrades to improve safety have been made, based on studies and evaluations by the City’s traffic engineering division.The following statement from the City of San Diego outlines the safety upgrades:“In the recent history, the City has evaluated the area and updated the intersection to include guardrails, a flashing beacon with a “curve” warning sign and a dedicated bike lane. The approaching lanes have been reduced from to one lane from two lanes and the signal at the approaching intersection has been modified to remain red between midnight and 4 a.m. to direct vehicles to stop before the intersection –- In other words the light remains red during the hours of 12 a.m. to 4 a.m. until a vehicle is detected.”But, the Cohen family said these changes are clearly not working.“It might not hit the house as much as it could, but it still does, which it shouldn’t at all,” said McKensey Cohen, whose bedroom was hit by a car in October. “Since then we've just been on edge about everything. We can hear the street for miles.”The family said they have contacted the City’s code enforcement department to come check the stability of the home, specifically McKensey’s bedroom, but they have not received a visit.The family hoped to move out the day of the last crash, but they had to postpone the move. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A parole board Tuesday granted parole to an actor previously convicted of stabbing his ex-girlfriend nearly two dozen times.Shelley Malil, who had a supporting role in the movie “The 40-Year-Old Virgin,” was convicted seven years ago of repeatedly stabbing Kendra Beebe in San Marcos.Beebe spoke to 10News after Malil was granted Parole. “Why are we letting out this person who’s going to go back out and go back on the internet and date and possibly relapse and hurt somebody else.” RELATED: 40-Year-Old Virgin actor deemed suitable for parole, 10 years after brutally stabbing ex-girlfriendAs of this year, Malil had served 9 years of his 12-years-to-life sentence. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A Marine killed in a motorcycle crash on I-15 Friday has been identified as 21-year-old Logan Parkhurst.The crash happened in the southbound lanes of Interstate 15 near Miramar Way just after 6:30 a.m.According to the California Highway Patrol, Parkhurst hit the back of a Toyota while attempting to exit onto Miramar Way, causing him to be ejected. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man with San Diego ties who worked for the U.S. government is accused of drugging and sexually assaulting multiple women, according to federal court documents.An FBI spokesperson confirmed Brian Jeffrey Raymond was arrested in La Mesa earlier this month.The arrest was first reported by The Daily Beast.Team 10 learned his arrest on October 9th took place in the parking lot of a La Mesa gym. Currently, he faces one charge related to sexual assault, but prosecutors said he is under investigation for crimes against 21 other women.Raymond, who most recently worked for the U.S embassy in Mexico City, had worked for the government for 23 years."For years, he has exerted power and control over unconscious women, undressing them, sexually assaulting them, photographing them, and recording them without their knowledge or consent," prosecutors wrote in court documents. They called him an "experienced sexual predator."He is currently at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in downtown. In a hearing this week, he was ordered to be transferred to Washington D.C. The investigation showed in May 2020, police in Mexico City responded to Raymond's apartment to reports of a "naked, hysterical woman desperately screaming for help." The woman said she met Raymond on Tinder. Their date eventually led to his apartment, where they ate snacks and drank "from a wine glass [Raymond] provided in his residence," documents showed. The victim said she suddenly blacked out. A sexual assault examination showed several injuries.On Raymond's devices and iCloud, investigators said they found approximately 400 photos and videos, some dating back to 2011. They showed at least "21 different unconscious women." Some of the women were fully nude.Law enforcement said they found his internet searches included "passed out black girl," "deep sleep," and "Ambien and alcohol side effects."The alleged assaults took place from Mexico City to Virginia, according to prosecutors. Raymond's parents live in La Mesa. Documents showed he moved back to their home in June after he resigned from his job. In an interview with federal agents, his parents said "they feel like they do not know their son" and were surprised when he came to visit. Prosecutors said his behavior was escalating, even after his arrest. A week before he was arrested in La Mesa, they said Raymond met another women who could only remember small fragments of their sexual encounter.Raymond's attorney did not return Team 10's request for comment. 2531
