The Russian government denied Monday that it had interfered in the 2016 US election campaign in the Kremlin's first remarks since 13 Russian nationals were indicted Friday on charges of conspiring to defraud the US.Answering a question from CNN on a weekly telephone news conference, the spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Peskov, said the indictments provided "no substantial evidence" of Russian meddling, and that there were "no indications that the Russian state could have been involved.""We didn't see any substantial evidence of someone interfering in the domestic affairs," Peskov added. The Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) identified Rusten Sheskey as the officer who shot Jacob Blake seven times in the back in Kenosha, Wisconsin on Sunday.The DCI, which provided its first update on the case late Wednesday, nearly 72 hours after the shooting, said its continuing its investigation, but is not pressing charges as of now.The shooting has prompted massive unrest in Kenosha since. All three NBA Playoff games on Wednesday were postponed, and a MLB game between the Milwaukee Brewers and Cincinnati Reds was also postponed.Investigators said that Sheskey, who was placed on administrative leave, has been with the police department for seven years.The DCI gave the following description of Sunday’s incident:“During the incident, officers attempted to arrest Jacob S. Blake, age 29. Law enforcement deployed a taser to attempt to stop Mr. Blake, however the taser was not successful in stopping Mr. Blake. Mr. Blake walked around his vehicle, opened the driver’s side door, and leaned forward. While holding onto Mr. Blake’s shirt, Officer Rusten Sheskey fired his service weapon seven times. Officer Sheskey fired the weapon into Mr. Blake’s back. No other officer fired their weapon. Kenosha Police Department does not have body cameras, therefore the officers were not wearing body cameras.”Officials also said that Blake told officers he had a knife. The DCI said that officials later found a knife on the driver's side floor of the car.The only videos of the incident were take bystanders that showed Blake opening his car door before he was shot at a close distance by Sheskey.Blake’s family said on Tuesday that the 29-year-old is partially paralyzed, but was fortunate to survive from his injuries. 2048

In October, Kaepernick filed a grievance against the NFL alleging the owners colluded to blackball him from the league. He was deposed by the league in connection with his complaint earlier this week.Kaepernick's former teammate and fellow free agent Eric Reid was also reportedly asked by Cincinnati Bengals owner Mike Brown about kneeling during the anthem during a workout with the team. To become vice president, you have to be eligible to become president.Sen. Kamala Harris, 55, was born in Oakland, California, in 1964 and a US citizen at birth. Akin to the controversy he tried to stir during the Barack Obama's Presidency, President Donald Trump suggested on Thursday that Harris isn’t eligible to run for vice president.Harris on Tuesday was announced as Joe Biden’s running mate on this year’s Democratic presidential ticket."I heard it today that she doesn't meet the requirements. And, by the way, the lawyer that wrote that piece is a very qualified, very talented lawyer,” Trump said.On Thursday, Newsweek published an op-ed questioning her eligibility. Newsweek defended the op-ed's publication. The argument that the op-ed makes, penned by John C. Eastman, is that Harris isn't a natural born citizen because her parents were not US citizens at the time of her birth. The issue Eastman raises is that the US constitution does not define "natural born citizen." But the 14th amendment clearly states that those born on US soil are citizens at birth."All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside," the amendment reads.Similar controversies have transpired when Sens. John McCain and Ted Cruz ran for president. Both were US citizens at birth, but were not born on US soil. Harris was born to two immigrant parents, a Jamaican father and Indian mother. According to his official college biography, Harris’ father Donald J. Harris was born a Jamaican citizen but has naturalized as an American citizen. Donald J. Harris is a professor emeritus at Stanford.According to her official obituary, the senator’s mother Shyamala Gopalan Harris, who died in 2009, came to the United States as a teenager and began participating in the Civil Rights Movement. She then became a cancer researcher at UC Berkeley. 2124
