DEL MAR (CNS) - A 4-year-old gelding died today during training at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club, the second horse lost during the 81st summer meet.Irreproachable suffered an unspecified injury this morning during a workout, according to Del Mar track spokesman Mac McBride. Irreproachable had raced twice, once at Santa Anita in May and once at Del Mar last month, McBride said.The other fatality involved Lovely Lilia, a 3-year-old filly that suffered a fatal injury during a morning workout on July 11, and was later euthanized.McBride said Del Mar has not lost any horses during racing for the past two summer meets.While there were no racing deaths, four training deaths were recorded last summer, while the subsequent fall meeting saw three racing deaths and two in training.McBride noted that in both 2018 and 2019, the Jockey Club's Equine Injury Database recognized Del Mar as the safest major track in the United States.``We hope to continue in that role this year,'' he said. DENVER – Colorado blazed trails when it legalized pot and now Denver could lead the way decriminalizing magic mushrooms.The group Denver for Psilocybin may soon have the all-clear to start gathering signatures so you can vote on it this fall.Gathering at the steps of the Denver City and County building on Wednesday, the group — chanting at times, "free the spores!" — met with city leaders about their push to decriminalize psilocybin, also known as magic mushrooms.Tyler Williams, one of the leaders of Denver for Psilocybin, spoke to Scripps station KMGH in Denver about their reasoning behind the push."There's a lot of research for all sorts of mental health issues. Everything from anxiety to depression to cluster headaches, addiction," said Williams.But he said he doesn't need the research to prove his claims. He credits their use saved his life a few years ago. "I had a suicide attempt November 12th of 2015 and I think it helped me get out of my depression, and it's helped me with my PTSD," Williams said.He's not alone. There are a growing number of people turning to psilocybin.Licensed professional counselor Kathy Hawkins treats a few number of people, not during their use, but only before and after."So, I’m a place where they can come and talk about it. DENVER – A passenger aboard a Frontier Flight heading from Denver to Charleston, S.C. on Thursday, claims a man allegedly assaulted two women and then urinated on another passenger’s seat.Pictures obtained by Denver7 show the man, identified Monday as Michael Allen Haag, being taken away by police once Frontier Flight 864 landed in Charleston.The pictures provided by the passenger show the man urinating on the seat in front of him and also show him getting escorted by police.A Frontier Airlines spokesperson did not comment on the specific details of the incident when asked for comment, but said they were aware of the situation.“The safety and security of our passengers is our top priority at Frontier. DETROIT — The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is activating an emergency plan in response an outbreak of hepatitis A.The number of cases continues to rise in Michigan. The department is activating what is called the Community Health Emergency Coordination Center."To help coordinate Michigan’s response to the hepatitis A outbreak, we are opening the Community Health Emergency Coordination Center to assist the multiple local public health jurisdictions involved in the response and prevention of further cases," said MDHHS Director Nick Lyon.The emergency coordination center will provide support to health departments, hospitals, EMS and other health care providers.Health care providers are asked to encourage hepatitis A vaccination."We know that the hepatitis A vaccine is more than 90 percent effective in protecting someone who may be exposed to hepatitis A," said Dr. Eden Wells, Chief Medical Executive with the MDHHS. "Without a single source associated with these cases, the importance of vaccination and proper hygiene is vital to ensuring we stop the person-to-person spread of hepatitis A." There have been 457 confirmed cases of hepatitis A since August 1, 2016. This number includes 18 fatalities associated with the outbreak and affected a number of cities; City of Detroit, Huron, Ingham, Lapeer, Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, Sanilac, St. Clair, Washtenaw, and Wayne Counties reported to MDHHS.Hepatitis A is an infection of the liver caused by a virus and is a vaccine-preventable disease.Symptoms may appear from two to six weeks after exposure, with the average time being about one month.
