SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who fatally struck a pedestrian near a Logan Heights intersection.The crash happened around 8:50 p.m. Monday near the intersection of 25th Street and Imperial Avenue, east of Interstate 5 and south of state Route 94, San Diego Police Officer John Buttle said.A man, whose age was not immediately available, was walking westbound in the left-turn lane of Imperial Avenue when he was struck by a vehicle heading eastbound on Imperial, Buttle said.ABC 10News learned the victim was dragged several yards; the driver of the suspect vehicle, described as a silver or gray two-door sedan, fled the scene without stopping.No description of the driver was immediately available.The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the officer said. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Police Tuesday were searching for two men who carjacked a 43-year-old man at knifepoint near San Diego Mesa College in the Clairemont area.It happened shortly before 10:50 p.m. Monday in the 7200 block of Mesa College Drive, off Linda Vista Road west of state Route 163, San Diego police Officer John Buttle said.A 43-year-old man had just parked his car, a blue 2019 Mazda3 sedan with California license plate 7YGF888, when two men walked up to him, Buttle said. One of the men was armed with a knife and placed the knife to the victim's stomach while demanding the car keys.The victim complied and both suspects drove off in the car, which was last seen heading eastbound on Mesa College Drive, Buttle said. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The name of the 46-year-old Ramona resident killed in a predawn shooting in his hometown was released by authorities today.A resident of the 600 block of Pine Street in the rural community southeast of Escondido heard a gunshot and found Mario Velazquez Cardoso mortally wounded in front of a neighboring home about 5:45 a.m. Thursday, according to sheriff's officials.Paramedics took Cardoso to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.An arrest has not been made in the killing, sheriff's Lt.
