BEIJING, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- A former Iraqi official said China would have the chance to play a big role in Iraq's reconstruction when the Middle Eastern country is more stable.

China congratulates Afghanistan on its presidential election and the formation of a national unity government, said Hua, adding that China hopes the new government will lead the Afghan people to peace, stability and development.

China will train 3,000 Afghan professionals in various fields over the next five years, the statement said.

The pledge was made during a meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Kazakh counterpart Nursultan Nazarbayev on the sidelines of a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Dushanbe, capital of Tajikistan.

"Both countries hope to give full play to the governmental consultation mechanism to map out a long-term program of action for their future cooperation," said former Chinese Ambassador to Germany Mei Zhaorong.
