Chen made the remarks at a news conference on the sideline of the second session of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference on Tuesday.
Chen Zhenhua, head of the office's information technology department, said Chinese seniors have an average eight years of poor health before they reach a life expectancy of 77 years old, and many are victims of bone and joint diseases.
Chen, who also is director of the Parkinson's Disease Research and Treatment Center with Xuanwu Hospital, Capital Medical University, said Parkinson's disease clinics were established across the country in response to the call by the national health authorities to leverage specialist clinics to treat specific diseases, to constantly improve diagnosis, treatment and prevention of Parkinson's disease in China.
Chen was accused of abusing his authority and receiving bribes of 275.8 million yuan through his wife Wang Chuanhong and other relatives from 1994 to 2016, prosecutors said.
