SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A woman was arrested late Wednesday night after a crash off Interstate 805 that left her car engulfed in flames.The incident occurred at around 11 p.m. in an area off southbound I-805, near Clairemont Mesa Boulevard.ABC 10News learned the woman was involved in a two-vehicle wreck that then caused her Nissan 350Z to burst into flames.The driver was able to get out of the vehicle without major injuries; the driver of the other car was not injured.It took responding fire crews over 20 minutes to knock down the blaze.The Nissan’s driver was treated at the scene before she was arrested on unspecified charges. 639
SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - An Uber driver helped a Lyft driver after a crash on Interstate 8 in Mission Valley Monday.The Uber driver told 10News he was exiting eastbound I-8 at Mission Gorge Rd. at 1:45 a.m. when he saw an SUV on its side, blocking the road.The man turned on his hazard lights and used his Uber car to block the road while he ran to help, he said.The Lyft driver was trapped and screaming for help, according to the man.The Uber driver said he kicked the windshield until he formed a hole the Lyft driver could climb through.Paramedics took the Lyft driver to the hospital with cuts and bruises.CHP officers are investigating the cause of the crash.The Lyft driver was not arrested but told the CHP his 'mind wasn't working', according to Officer Jim Bettencourt. 806
SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- An attorney for a man charged with killing a South Bay music producer told a jury that her client took steps to dispose of the 28-year-old’s body out of fear of being accused of the murder, but did not actually carry out the brutal stabbing himself.Both the defense and the prosecution gave closing statements Monday in the high-profile murder trial of 54-year-old Timothy John Cook. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- An investigation is underway after a fire damaged an abandoned home in Southcrest late Monday night.According to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, crews were called to the fire on 36th and Newton avenue just before midnight.It took firefighters at least 15 minutes to stop the fire from spreading to nearby homes.Because the house is abandoned and boarded up, the fire is being considered suspicious and is being investigated.No one was injured in the fire. 489
SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A student suspected of posting social media threats to four San Diego County schools has been identified, San Diego Unified School District announced.The student, only identified as a seventh-grader who attends an SDUSD school, reportedly posted the threats on Facebook and Snapchat, SDUSD police said.Threats of a potential shooting against Madison High School and Creative Performing Media Arts Middle School were discovered Wednesday, followed by similar threats to San Diego High School and the School of Creative and Performing Arts made Thursday, the district said.Specifically, the threats said in part, “Biggest shooting in history on its way.
