AKRON, N.Y. – 2020 has been a bit of roller coaster and for some, there's been more downs than ups. Before the pandemic, a roller coaster is exactly where you could find Eric Hall and his family. One summer day in 2019, something was getting in the way of his ride.“The guy did everything he could to get me in,” recalled Hall. “Which was not only super humiliating and humbling, but obviously at the same time it was very eye opening for me because something that I love to do, especially with my family, now my weight and my health was restricting me from doing that.”Hall knew he needed to change. But changing takes time, time he didn't think he had.“Prior to the pandemic, I was kind of hoping for more work from home, that's not necessarily what I had in mind was this,” said Hall. With an opportunity to be more healthy. Hall jumped on it. He insists he's not a paid spokesperson, but he swears by the app Centr. It's Chris Hemsworth's fitness app.“It wasn't like these like gargantuan bulky bodybuilders,” added Hall. “It was real people.”Hall weighed 330 pounds at his heaviest. Now, he weighs 165. He believes more time at home helped make that transformation a reality. Hall wants everyone to know losing weight can be done, just start slow.“It's not nearly as complicated as you think it is,” added Hall. He says it’s a lot of hard work. This story was originally published by Jeff Rusack at WKBW. 1414

All overseas travelers, except mainland China, will have to quarantine in a hotel for 14 days upon arriving in Hong Kong, the government announced as COVID-19 cases continue to surge. The new changes will go into effect Nov. 3 and remain until further notice, government officials said in its coronavirus tab on its website. The government said anyone who has stayed in high-risk countries Bangladesh, Ethiopia, France, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, Russia, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America must provide the following documents upon arrival:A negative COVID-19 test result, in English or Chinese, was issued by a laboratory or healthcare institution 72 hours before landing in Hong Kong. According to PETA’s latest press release, cow’s milk is a symbol of white supremacy. In a statement, the animal rights group links the dairy industry’s treatment of the cows to the concept of white supremacy.“Aside from ‘lactose-tolerant’ white supremacists, cow’s milk really is the perfect drink of choice for all (even unwitting) supremacists, since the dairy industry inflicts extreme violence on other living beings,” the organization said in part.“PETA is trying to wake people up to the implications of choosing this white beverage and suggesting that they choose something else pronto,” the statement continues. The release further claims that the dairy industry has “control over your mind.” Read the full statement by clicking here. 748

After months of being unable to splurge on things like a vacation or even a night at the movies, experts say many Americans have hit a point of “frugal fatigue.” In fact, a new report by Comscore Inc. shows impulse spending is at the highest ever. With store closures and in-person shopping concerns, many consumers have moved more of their spending online. On average, they’re now spending roughly 25% of their discretionary income there.“When people are cooped up at home, there’s the tendency for impulse buying,” said Greg McBride, the Chief Financial Analyst at Bankrate.com.“I think the pandemic has moved us forward seven years in the last seven months, in terms of certain trends particularly towards digital,” he added. While online shopping has been around for a long time, McBride explained that in the last seven months, more retailers have gone online. Those already there have invested significantly in making their shopping experience easier and more convenient, so that people could spend more and more often. An easier online shopping experience eliminates the "old buffer" of someone getting in their car, driving and browsing around their favorite stores. The old way provided time to reconsider a purchase or how much to spend.“The tendency for emotional or impulsive purchasing can be really devastating towards your financial goals and unwind a lot of progress you may have otherwise already made,” McBride added.A little impulse spending won’t hurt, but these numbers are concerning some experts like McBride.“It’s really important to identify what is your trigger? Is it sadness, is it boredom, is it 'Keeping up with the Jones?’” he said. “Then developing strategies that can distract you from that.”Two simple strategies he suggests are, first, do not show up without a list or only shop for specific item. This goes for in-store shopping and, especially, online.Secondly, you should set a personal threshold for spending and impose a 24-hour waiting period for purchases above that threshold. It recreates a buffer and gives you time to sleep on the financial impact of bigger purchases. That impact could be more significant during this pandemic. 2179

Across the country, confederate statues and symbols are going down. Just this week, Mississippi voted to change its flag which featured the old confederate flag. On Wednesday night, a statue of Stonewall Jackson was taken down in Richmond, VA. NO CHANGES INSIDE CAPITOLWhile changes are no doubt underway around the country, the 11 statues representing Confederate soldiers and officials are on display as part of the National Statuary Hall collection in the United States Capitol. "They committed treason against the United States," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said in a recent press conference. Pelosi wrote a letter asking for the Confederate men to be removed, however she doesn't have the power to do so unilaterally. Senator Mitch McConnell has said he won't pass a new law to change that"What I do think is clearly a bridge too far - this nonsense that we need to airbrush the Capitol, I mean eight former presidents owned slaves," McConnell told reporters recently. STATUES IN CONGRESS ARE CONTROLLED BY STATESCurrently, each state gets to send two statues to display inside the United States Capitol. Often times, the state legislature decides which statue is represented, which can get political The full list is available here, however these are the 11 confederate men represented in the collection: Jefferson Davis, President of Confederate States of America, Mississippi James Zachariah George, Reconstruction leader and white supremacist, Mississippi Wade Hampton, One of the largest slaveholders in the Southeast, South Carolina John E. Kenna, Confederate soldier, West Virginia Robert E. Lee, Commander of the Confederate States Army, Virginia Uriah Milton Rose, Confederacy supporter, Arkansas . Edmund Kirby Smith, Confederate soldier and slave holder, Florida. Alexander Hamilton Stephens, Vice president of the Confederate States, Georgia Zebulon Baird Vance, Confederate military member, North Carolina Joseph Wheeler, Commander in the Confederate Army of Tennessee, Alabama Edward Douglass White, Confederate solider, Louisiana 2060
