But the coronavirus pandemic has added even more uncertainty for the nearly 4 million students expected to receive college degrees in 2019-20, according to the National Center for Education Statistics.“I feel like when you graduate, you go out into the real world,” says Stephanie Fallon, 23, who graduated in May from Temple University in Philadelphia. But this world “almost doesn’t feel real,” she says.Even though the real world has changed, the challenges most new graduates face haven’t. Here’s what the class of 2020 can do to answer three essential post-graduation questions during the ongoing pandemic.Can you get a job?The job market looked strong for 2020 graduates before the economy took a hit from the coronavirus. A survey in fall 2019 by the National Association of Colleges and Employers projected a 5.8% increase in hiring over the previous year.Of course, much has changed.“What [graduates] are facing now is just a horrendous market,” says Edwin Koc, director of research, public policy and legislative affairs for NACE. “There really isn’t any other way to put it.”A survey in 2018 from the recruitment agency Randstad found that the average job search lasts five months. Koc says it may take more time — and effort — to land a job in the current market. Here are some ways to improve your situation:Be persistent with potential employers but understand if they can’t give you a quick answer.Look to your college career center for help, like connecting you with alumni at companies that are hiring.Consider transitional work or opportunities outside your desired field.Fallon, for example, plans to pursue a career in nonprofit work. While she currently has a part-time job with a national nonprofit foundation, she’s also working two nanny jobs.Can you get an apartment?Many students live at home after graduation: Investment broker TD Ameritrade found in a 2019 survey that roughly half of college graduates plan to move back in with their parents.You may have already taken this step when your college closed its campus this spring. Options tied to your income could give you breathing room once repayment starts.Unverzagt says your top financial priority now should be starting an easily accessible emergency fund. LAS VEGAS — Neighbors in the southwest part of Las Vegas are fed up over the wild scenes playing out in their area which have included flame throwers, rocket launchers, strippers and buses full of people as the Strip's night and day clubs remain closed.For weeks, Las Vegas police have been dealing with a sharp rise in complaints regarding "party houses," some of which have been the scenes for shootings and murders.Neighbors near one home on Sunset Road and Jones Boulevard say they are living next to a nightmare."It's a party going madhouse out here," Tony Grant said.Grant and his wife Nanette, who is battling breast cancer, say the for past six months, people have been arriving to their neighborhood by bus, car and rideshares.Videos shows dozens, if not hundreds, of people at the home, which at times includes laser light shows, loud music and nearly-naked women.Online, the venue is billed as a day and nightclub available for gatherings and parties for ,500 a day."There's fire-based entertainment, including flamethrowers, and rocket launchers that are being set off within obviously 10- to 15-feet of 50-foot pine trees and homes," Hadas Grant said.Online records show Las Vegas police have taken more than a half dozen reports for "disturbing the peace" in the 5800 block of Patrick Lane since April 2020.Records obtained by Clark County show authorities have placed administrative actions on the home, and fines have totaled 0.The Grants say the gatherings have continued."On the day the citation was placed on the door, that Tuesday night was one of the largest gatherings or events that they've ever had, they're laughing in the face of code enforcement," Tony Grant said.Interview requests to the group promoting the gatherings were not returned. LA JOLLA, Calif. (KGTV) - The San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office released the identities of the two men killed in a paragliding accident over the weekend. The ME identified the victims as 43-year-old Glenn Johnny Peter Bengtsson, of Carlsbad, and Raul Gonzalez Valerio, 61, of Laguna Hills.Questions still remain regarding the double fatal collision at Torrey Pines Gliderport on Saturday afternoon. The two certified pilots were flying their paragliders when they collided into each other, fell into a cliff, and died, authorities said.RELATED: 2 paragliders dead after colliding in mid-air, crashing into cliffMany who were at the Gliderport said Saturday's weather conditions were absolutely perfect, so they do not believe the incident was weather-related. While many people were flying, they said there were not enough people in the air at the time, so there wasn’t any aerial traffic jam. They both were aware of the rules -- to keep a safe distance between each other, and that the glider along the ocean needs to make way for the one flying along the cliffs, who has the right-of-way. LAKESIDE, Calif. (KGTV) -- Nearly 200 people turned out for a vigil in Lakeside honoring two teenagers killed in a car accident last weekend. Isaac Culkin and Justin Kyte were killed on Saturday, Jan. 11 when the car they were riding in crashed into a tree. Two others in the car suffered moderate injuries, but survived. Those closest to the boys gathered at the scene of the crash for a candlelight vigil, a moment of silence and prayer. The teens' closest friends remembered them as hardworking, funny boys who loved to have fun offroading the desert. CHP says Kyte was behind the wheel when he lost control of the car and hit a tree on Willow Road. Culkin was in the passenger seat. CHP says speed was a factor, but it is unclear if drugs or alcohol were involved. Services for Culkin are scheduled Thursday, January 23rd. Information on Kyte's services have not been made public.
