(KGTV) -  A thief in a hoodie made off with a haul in La Mesa and the contents of that haul are sparking outrage.Outside her condo just off El Cajon Boulevard, Kathleen put out several bags and boxes right outside her front door Monday morning. "A lot of sweaters and warm winter clothes, a couple pair of shoes and a teddy bear," said Kathleen.Also included: Several throw rugs and some households items. Stuck on each box and bag was a sticky note with the name: Vietnam Veterans of America, the group picking up the donations."They weren't scheduled to come until Tuesday," said Kathleen.So when Kathleen came home Monday afternoon and discovered the donations gone, she checked her Ring camera footage. The video begins with a person in a hoodie, bending down, lifting a box and throw rug, and then running off. Kathleen says the camera wasn't rolling when the other stuff vanished."Really sad they take from Vietnam veterans," said Kathleen.Kathleen comes from a military family, including a brother who served in the Vietnam War."It's heartbreaking. LAKE HUGHES (CNS) - A fire burning near the Lake Hughes area was 12% contained but experienced a "flare up" due to extreme heat Friday afternoon after already scorching 11,637 acres, destroying five structures and threatening more over the last three days."There is a bit of a flare up this afternoon, but we don't really have a ton of information of where that is yet because it's going on right now," a U.S. Forest Service official told City News Service late Friday afternoon.Shortly after 5:30 p.m. Friday, additional evacuations were ordered for the Fairmont area east of Lancaster, where residents were told to evacuate from north of Avenue D/Highway 138, south of Avenue A, west of 150th Street West and east of 200th Street West, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Palmdale Station."Fire will continue to grow and threaten the surrounding communities of Lake Hughes, Leona Valley, Lake Elizabeth, Pine Canyon, Quail Lake, Three Points, Historic Ridge Route and Inventoried Roadless Areas, fire officials said during a late-morning update Friday. LEMON GROVE, Calif. (KGTV) -- A work trailer slammed into a home, nearly hitting a girl holding her baby sister in East County Monday afternoon. Just before 1 p.m. Monday a trailer filled with debris at a home under construction started rolling down the Palm Avenue in Lemon Grove. “It sounded like a crash at first,” said Abigail Jimenez, who was inside the home at the time of the crash. “I was inside and laying down in the couch and I hear some noise and something was beeping and it pushes my couch and my baby sister was with me,” Jimenez added. Fortunately, no one inside the home at the time of the crash was injured. The building inspector had to yellow tag the house, saying enough damage was done to the home to limit the family’s access. I was scared after I found what happened because it pushed us and I didn't know if it was a dream or not but thank God that we didn't get hurt or anything,” Jimenez said. 929

(KGTV) – Leslie Furcron, the woman who was shot in the face with a bean bag round during a May 30 protest outside of La Mesa police headquarters, addressed the media Wednesday.The 59-year-old Furcron and her attorney, Dante Pride, are slated to hold a press conference at 10 a.m. in La Mesa."I'm a law-abiding citizen," said Furcron in her brief statement to reporters. "I never came out here that night [La Mesa protests] for this to be a part of my story."Furcron was released from the hospital on Tuesday after having been placed in a medically induced coma with a breathing tube.She was initially hospitalized after a La Mesa officer fired a bean bag round into a crowd of protesters. Furcron was struck in the forehead.Her attorney described the bean bag as a canvas sack filled with buckshot, or lead pellets.It's unclear at what range Furcron was struck but her attorney said,"she was too close for them to use that round if it sticks in your forehead."Furcron was among the thousands of people in front of the police department, where a demonstration against police violence started peacefully later turned to chaos and officers began to deploy tear gas and bean bag rounds.LMPD Chief Walt Vaquez said last week that the incident was under investigation and the officer involved had been identified. Vasquez issued the following statement Wednesday:"I am sincerely thankful that Ms. Furcron has been released from the hospital and is able to now heal at home with her family.
