That's because many businesses devastated by the coronavirus pandemic are expected to abandon offices and storefronts. The changes are happening because more employees are working from home, and more people are shopping online. The result could bring an end to the long boom in the nation's commercial real estate market. Hotels, restaurants and stores that closed in March have seen only a partial return of customers. (AP) — SpaceX's sleek, new crew capsule arrived at the International Space Station on Sunday, acing its second milestone in just over a day.No one was aboard the Dragon capsule launched Saturday on its first test flight, only an instrumented dummy. But that quickly changed once the hatch swung open and the space station astronauts floated inside."A new generation of space flight starts now with the arrival of @SpaceX's Crew Dragon to the @Space_Station," NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine tweeted. "Congratulations to all for this historic achievement getting us closer to flying American Astronauts on American rockets."This beefed-up, redesigned Dragon is the first American-made, designed-for-crew spacecraft to pull up to the station in eight years. The next one coming up will have its own two-man crew.The space station's three astronauts had front-row seats as the white 27-foot-long (8-meter-long) capsule neatly docked, a little early no less. TV cameras on Dragon as well as the station provided stunning views of one another throughout the rendezvous.Just two hours after the Dragon's grand entrance, the station crew entered to take air samples. The astronauts wore oxygen masks and hoods until getting the all-clear.If the six-day demo goes well, SpaceX could launch two astronauts this summer under NASA's commercial crew program. Both astronauts — Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken — were at SpaceX Mission Control in Southern California, observing all the action. They rushed there from Florida after watching the Dragon rocket into orbit early Saturday from NASA's Kennedy Space Center."Just super excited to see it," Behnken said minutes after the link-up. "Just one more milestone that gets us ready for our flight coming up here."While SpaceX has sent plenty of cargo Dragons to the space station, crew Dragon is a different beast. It docked autonomously under the station astronauts' watchful eyes, instead of relying on the station's robot arm for berthing. The capsule's nose cap was wide open like a dragon's mouth, to expose the docking mechanism.Behnken said that's the way it should work when he and Hurley are on board; they may push a button or two and will have the ability to intervene, if necessary.As part of Sunday's shakedown, the station astronauts sent commands for the Dragon to retreat and then move forward again, before the capsule closed in for good.SpaceX employees at company headquarters in Hawthorne, California, cheered and applauded as crew Dragon pulled up and docked at the orbiting lab, nearly 260 miles (400 kilometers) above the Pacific, north of New Zealand. They burst into applause again, several minutes later, when the Dragon's latches were tightly secured.The capsule's lone passenger for launch — a mannequin wearing a white SpaceX spacesuit — remained strapped into its seat as the station's U.S., Canadian and Russian crew removed supplies and photographed the spotless white interior. (KGTV) - Wednesday kids tried out for the reboot of Kids Say the Darndest Things during a casting call at Legoland.Some families were selected as they entered or left Legoland, while other families sought out the try-outs.Representatives say hundreds of children were interviewed to see if they are a good fit for the national show, hosted by Tiffany Haddish.The kids, age 4-11, waited in a tent with their parents to be called in. "They come in and let it go and it is just the most hilarious thing ever," Casting Producer Cevin Middleton said. In the tent, we asked a few of the kids random questions and hilarity ensued."I'm funny!!!" Aliyah said. She was very concerned about putting on the microphone for the interview, saying she thought she might get "electrified." When asked where she would go if she could travel anywhere in the world, she said she would go to China for limited edition Shopkins.One little boy jumped into an interview saying emphatically, "I like to fight with them! [You like to fight with dragons?] Yeah, like that little dragon over there," he said pointing."I was the leader of my friends and then when I'm going to leave to somewhere else I picked one of my friends to be the leader of the other girls," seven-year-old Lila said. CARLSBAD, Calif. (KGTV) -- As a way to deal with San Diego’s growing roadway congestion, more communities are installing mini-roundabouts to slow speeding drivers. Yet some neighbors in North County are calling them death traps.If you take a drive down Cassia Road in Carlsbad, you’ll see mini-roundabouts, also known as mini-circles, that are causing a big fuss. Fire Captain Nick Valenzuela lives in the neighboring community. “I've come down [to the road] because I’ve heard traffic accidents from my house and come down and helped people,” he tells us.“I've seen the aftermath of at least two accidents,” adds neighbor Mark Bua, who is also a police officer. Bua says the mini-circles are so small that drivers blow right past them without yielding for oncoming traffic. He shared photos of debris from some of the collisions.The mini-circles on Cassia Road were installed at the end of 2016 as a way to slow traffic in bustling North County.Mini-circles have had great success in other booming cities like Seattle, which now has more than 1,000 of them with a 90% reduction in collisions.Dan Burden is a renowned traffic expert. He was once named one of the most important civic innovators in the world, according to TIME Magazine. We asked Burden to review photos of the Carlsbad mini-circles. “[They’ve] got some design issues,” he told us. “In this case the circle is so small and there's no consequence in getting close to it. They're designed in a way that a motorist could go much too fast,” he adds.Burden is a fan of mini-circles, if they're done right. He says they're easier on cars than speed bumps and create better flow than stop signs. "They slow traffic down to 15 to 20 miles per hour upon entry,” he adds.However, Carlsbad neighbors claim they’re playing chicken with speeding drivers and lives are at risk.10News submitted a request with the City of Carlsbad to review the number of recent collisions Cassia Road. According to reported incidents, collisions actually appear to have dropped since the mini-circles were installed.Nearby Leucadia is hoping to soon install mini-circles along the congested North Coast Highway 101. A few years ago, the mini-circles were installed in the Bird Rock community of La Jolla, where motorists are now driving half as fast as they used to. On Harbinson Avenue in La Mesa, the circles were removed a few years after neighbors complained about safety concerns.The City of Carlsbad is reportedly monitoring and making refinements to the mini-circles on Cassia Road, but is aware of residents’ concerns and will consider making more changes in the upcoming months.“This is Carlsbad. Things are supposed to be done right. This is not right. This [was] not done right at all,” adds Valenzuela. 2782

Five decades after the civil rights movement, there is still division.Naomi Davis and Sherrilynn Bevel both lived through that groundbreaking era and have insightful perspectives on how the country should move forward with a focus on racial equality.“I grew up in St. Albans Queens, where mom is the president of everything and all the lawns were cut and all the kids were college-bound and it was Martin, it was Malcolm and it was all great things were possible,” said Davis, the CEO of Blacks in Green on Chicago’s South Side.Davis says her organization has set out to fulfill a vision for self-sustaining Black communities.“We have a mission to create walk to work, walk to shop, walk to learn, walk to play villages, where African-American families own the property, own the businesses,” said Davis.Bevel is a nonviolence trainer, as well as the daughter of iconic civil rights pioneers and freedom riders Diane Nash and James Bevel. Both fought for desegregation and civil rights alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.“My father always talked about creating dramas that allow people to see themselves and have to decide who they were in the bigger picture,” said Bevel.Her father was with Dr. King in Memphis and witnessed his assassination in April 1968.“After I was born even, the civil rights workers were finding there will be small communities where Black men's bodies were found in cotton fields and that kind of thing and my mother shared that she had spent like days trying to convince somebody from one of the wire services to come down and report on a body that they had found,” said Bevel. “And it just wasn't news. It wasn’t news.”Both women point to education and more listening as the core path to resolution and coexistence.“We haven't been serious for a long time about educating our citizens,” Bevel said. “And I don't just mean Black and brown people in the inner cities. We have these pockets of rural America where young poor and working-class whites do not understand where their interests run right in line with other working people of color.”Davis says the path forward is a reckoning where the disenfranchised finally get priority at the front of the line, either through reparations or systematic redirection of resources.“That's the math of it,” said Davis. “If you're going to solve for disparity,
