SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Police were searching for a suspect following a violent shooting in the Midway District on Wednesday night.San Diego Police said officers received a call of shots fire followed by a vehicle crashing into a building at Kenyon St. and Kemper St. just after 6 p.m. The car was located behind a shopping center in the 3600 block of Midway Dr., SDPD said.Officers arrived to find a man behind the steering wheel of a grey Acura that collided with a retaining wall. The man had been shot at least once. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The victim has not been identified but was described as a possible Hispanic male between 18 and 25 years old.Police are searching for a suspect, but say the investigation is still in its early stages. Witnesses heard a car speed off, but police did not immediately have a suspect description. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Point Loma neighbors say a completed Navy fuel pipeline project has been tearing up their road for years. The work to replace the 17-mile-long Navy-owned Miramar pipeline is finished along Rosecrans Street between Talbot Street and Naval Base Point Loma. However, residents told 10News parts of the repaved street are failing. “I would love to see it finally repaired correctly so it doesn't fail in six months, which is what has happened multiple times,” said La Playa resident Ben Bensoul. Bensoul said contractors were supposed to finish the Talbot Street stretch of road last week but there is no sign of the workers. “They picked up their signs and left,” he said. Bensoul said traffic snarls are common, along with safety concerns for bicyclists and people on scooters. “I’ve actually memorized where all the holes were and was able to avoid half driving home. Now it's impossible,” said Bensoul. The Miramar pipeline provides fuel for ships and aircraft. 10News reached out to the Navy for comment. "Roadwork on Rosecrans Street began September 23rd with removal of failed slurry seal and was scheduled to be finished with the new slurry seal on 28 September. During this process, concrete was discovered under the asphalt, which causes adhesion problems. The contractor is currently working with the City of San Diego, however, due to the underlying condition of the road, this requires additional investigation and discussion to achieve an effective long-term solution. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police on the campus of San Diego State University are hoping surveillance photos will lead to an arrest in a recent burglary. The pictures are clear. They show two men walking in the hallway of a campus building. Another photo shows them at a different angle. Police aren't releasing details about the burglary, but they say right now, there is no threat to campus. This is the latest in a series of crimes on or near campus. Last Wednesday night around 8:30, two men armed with guns robbed two people as they sat in their car. It happened in the north alley off of 55th and Montezuma. Taylor Langpap and her roommate, Jessica Ancar, walk the alley all the time to get to their apartment. "I was a little uneasy that it was just really close to my apartment, but I wasn't really surprised cause stuff like that happens all the time here," said Jessica. In the fall, there was a string or robberies where students had their cellphones stolen. In another case, a man was charged with ripping off students who were trying to sell things on the App Offer Up. Campus police aren't saying if the men in the surveillance photos are wanted in any other crimes, but students say they are always taking precautions, especially when walking after dark. "I make sure to call one of my family members or a friend, and then if I am not on the phone with someone, I try to keep very aware of my surroundings. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Police arrested a man suspected of assaulting multiple people as he tried to steal their vehicles in the Bay Terraces area.Police reported at around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at a red light on Woodman Street and Paradise Hills Road.Police said the unidentified man tried to carjack five people at the red light before being arrested.One of the victims suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to police.
