Demetria Poe posted on social media about her experience, and what passengers and crew members did next.Poe, who is Black, says she helped a white woman with her bag as the woman sat next to her on the plane. The woman swapped out her mask for one that said ‘Blue Lives Matter’ and sat back down next to Poe."That woman was trying to entice me into an argument because there was no need for her to flip that mask in my presence," Poe later told USA Today.According to Poe, after take-off, the woman said “I support blue lives because I support officers.”“I explained to her blue lives do not exist. A woman who was caught on camera calling 911 dispatchers on a Black bird watcher in New York City’s Central Park will face charges.The Manhattan District Attorney announced Monday his office has initiated a prosecution of Amy Cooper for falsely reporting an incident.Cooper was walking her dog in the park in May and was seen on camera having a confrontation with a Black man, who was birdwatching at the time. The man, Christian Cooper (no relation to Amy Cooper) told Amy Cooper that by not putting her dog on a leash in that section of the park, she was in violation of park rules.In the cell phone video taken by Christian Cooper, Amy Cooper is heard talking to 911 dispatchers and telling them a Black man was threatening her life. Cooper was issued a Desk Appearance Ticket for an arraignment in October.In a statement posted online, the DA is asking others who have been “the target of false reporting to contact our Office. Airbnb is doing its part to help stop the spread of the coronavirus.In a press release, Airbnb said they are banning all bookings for entire-home listings in the U.S. and Canada that occur over the Halloween weekend to protect the public's health.If guests previously booked to stay somewhere that fits that criteria, Airbnb said the company would reimburse them."The great majority of guests are respectful of our hosts' homes and neighbors, and we understand that this initiative will disrupt many one-night reservations that might not have led to parties," Airbnb said in the press release. They dropped in on New York City, Miami, Chicago and Newark, while possibly ghosting smaller or more suburban ares like Raleigh, North Carolina, and Montgomery County, Maryland.Amazon may have decided that a city is necessary for luring the best employees."The key for Amazon is that they want to build a second HQ that is an attractive place to live and work for young professionals. This is why quality of life in the city will matter," said Nathan Jensen, a professor of government at the University of Texas at Austin.Other than both being finalists for HQ2, places like Miami and Montgomery County don't have much in common. Miami is a cosmopolitan city that draws business and tourists from around the world. Montgomery County, located outside of Washington D.C. is less well known and lacks some of the splashier attractions of a warm city perched on the beach.Not getting Amazon could be a mixed blessing for the less urban locations. Absorbing up to 50,000 new workers would be a major undertaking, notes Jensen.
