EL CAJON, Calif (KGTV) -- A 26-year-old man accused of fatally stabbing a fellow Ramona resident during a fight at a gas station in their East County hometown pleaded not guilty Tuesday to a murder charge and was ordered held on million bail.    Jarrett Austin Wishnick is suspected of mortally wounding Steven Faught, 59, shortly before 6 p.m. Thursday near a set of fuel pumps in front of Stage Stop Liquors at 578 Main St.    Deputies responding to a report of an assault at the business found Faught bleeding profusely from a wound to his neck, sheriff's Lt. Greg Rylaarsdam said.    Paramedics airlifted the victim to a trauma center, where he was pronounced dead. Wishnick -- who remained at the scene of the deadly fight -- was treated for a hand injury before being booked into jail.    It was unclear what prompted the dispute between the men, both of whom had parked their vehicles in front of the gasoline pumps outside the store.    Faught's older brother, Jerry, flew to San Diego from Portland after the incident. He told 10News that his brother had a warm personality.  "Even though he had  very little, he'd give you the clothes off his back."    Wishnick will be back in court Nov. 20 for a bail review and on Jan. 16 for a readiness conference. A Feb. 1 preliminary hearing date was also scheduled.Wishnick faces 26 years to life in prison if convicted of murder and the use of a knife. 1490

Disneyland Park has shut down two cooling towers at its park in Southern California following an outbreak of Legionnaires' disease.Orange County health officials said nine people who visited the Anaheim theme park in September developed the disease.An additional three people who had been to Anaheim but not Disneyland got sick too, said Jessica Good, a spokeswoman for the Orange County Health Care Agency. One patient, who had not visited the park and had additional health issues, died, she said.The 12 patients are between ages 52 and 94, and 10 were hospitalized, she said.CNN has reached out to Disneyland for comment but has not heard back."To date, no additional Legionella cases have been identified with potential exposure in Anaheim after September," Good said. "There is no known ongoing risk associated with this outbreak."Legionnaires disease is a severe form of pneumonia caused by Legionella bacteria, sometimes found in water systems. It is typically contracted by breathing mist from the water that contains it. The source of the mist can be air conditioning units in large facilities, showers or hot tubs. Legionnaires' disease is not contagious between humans.County health officials identified Disneyland Park as a common location of eight of the cases last month, and have been working to identify potential sources, Good said.Disneyland Park informed health officials this month that elevated levels of Legionella had been identified in two of its 18 towers, which were then treated and disinfected.Disneyland took the towers out of service on November 1 and told the health agency it had performed additional disinfecting and testing. It brought the towers back into service November 5, but two days later, they were taken out of service again,she said.Health officials subsequently issued an order that the towers remain shut down until they are verified to be free from contamination. EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) -- Nearly 1,000 students left without answers after three charter schools forced to shut down. In a lawsuit filed by the Grossmont Union High School District in 2015, a judge ruled against the charter schools in Lemon Grove, El Cajon and Lakeside demanding they shut their doors June 28 for good. The charter students say they’re non-traditional and don’t want to go back into public schools. The district superintendent says they charter schools were unlawful when the charters got authorization through the Julian and Borrego Springs school districts. 586

(KGTV) -- A rally was held Monday afternoon in El Cajon to not only celebrate the holiday season, but to also call on local leaders to fully reopen businesses and schools.The “All I Want for Christmas is Freedom” rally took place at the El Cajon Centennial Plaza, located on 200 Civic Center Way.The event was organized by the group Re-Open San Diego and was a “free and safe family event to save the spirit of Christmas, enjoy food, shopping, listening to the Mayor of El Cajon [Bill Wells] play live music, and to advocate for fully reopening San Diego businesses and schools.”State Sen. Brian Jones, Rep. Darrell Issa, and Peggy Hall with TheHealthyAmerican.org will be among those speaking at the rally. Many say they believed businesses can reopen safely."Let these people get back to work and be safe, take care of their employees, take care of their customers and open up in a safe manner," Jones said.
