TORONTO — Canada is introducing a contact tracing smartphone app that will notify Canadians of exposure to the new coronavirus.Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says the app will be voluntary and that if someone tests positive, other users who have the app and have been in proximity will then be alerted they’ve been exposed to someone who has tested positive.Trudeau says that the government will not collect any data from the app and users won't need to enable location services in order to use it.Governments around the world have been turning to smartphone technology to help battle fresh virus flare-ups as they ease lockdown restrictions. But Uber plans to take delivery to a new level by using drones.The company reportedly plans to launch a food delivery service using drones by 2021.   How soon could this happen? Futurist Thomas Frey says it’s coming whether we want it or not.   "With all the emerging technology, we still have to work our way through the crappy stages before we get to the good stuff," says Frey.   Delivering food to anyone anywhere is a challenge  "Delivering something like food is a lot messier and a lot more time sensitive than delivering a product we're getting from Walmart or Amazon or something, says Frey."Part of the problem with drones is that we have to get the FAA to OK deliveries like this, and that is not a simple thing to do."   And with the convenience, comes a price.  "Eliminate a lot of human labor in doing something like this, so the reasons companies are pushing this so hard is it gives them a competitive advantage,” explains Frey. “It takes much of the labor costs out of this arrangement."  Overall, the good side of technology usually outweighs the bad, Frey says."See, drones can be very dangerous. The mother of a 5-year-old boy who was allegedly murdered by his father has now also been arrested on a charge of child neglect. According to an affidavit, she was also at the home when the boy was killed. Joseph Ray Daniels was arrested and charged with one count of criminal homicide in the disappearance of his son, Joe Clyde. Court records revealed that the elder Daniels allegedly beat the young boy to death before disposing his body in a rural location.   Officials announced Monday night that Joe Clyde’s mother, 27-year-old Krystal Daniels, was also arrested.According to an affidavit, Krystal Daniels was home at the time her husband allegedly murdered their child, Joe Clyde and knew he disposed of the body.She “failed to report the abuse and resulting homicide” of the boy, the affidavit added. Krystal Daniels also allegedly "failed to report injuries, abuse and/or homicide, despite multiple opportunities."She’s scheduled to appear in court on Monday. 1030
