PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The University of Pittsburgh announced on Sunday that they'd issued a shelter-in-place order for students on its Pittsburgh campus due to a spike in positive COVID-19 cases on campus.The order, which was initially scheduled for Thursday, was moved up and went into effect at 12:01 a.m. on Monday."This action is being taken to respond to a significant increase in positive cases among students over the weekend," university officials said in a statement. "There have been at least 40 confirmed cases since Friday, which we suspect are linked to gatherings that took place over the Halloween weekend." 626

PALA, Calif. (KGTV) - A North County family lost everything in a fire but their dog, thanks to a man who ran into a burning home. Firefighters yelled at Jose Guzman to stop as he ran past them into the house in Pala this week. "When I ran through curtain of fire where my van was and fence, I didn't know what was behind that, decided to come here anyways,” said Guzman. Guzman didn’t care about belongings; he wanted to save his pit bull, Gabbana. "I knew my dog was here, I knew she was here,” he said. “I ran through here tried to stay in the middle this was going, this was on fire, couldn't see anything." Gabbana was hiding behind the toilet. "All I wanted was to get my dog, I came in here, I didn't hesitate, I just, I had to get her, she's part of the family." Guzman, his wife, and two daughters had only lived in the home two months. "There's nothing that survived, nothing, all our savings were here." Guzman managed to save what mattered. "Me and family would've been destroyed, we love that dog, I'm sure there's people that would do the same thing,” Guzman said. While firefighters caution against untrained people running into fires, Guzman's rescued had a happy ending. No one was hurt and the community is helping the family through GoFundMe. 1268

Pharmacy chain Walgreens said on Friday that it will be working with 35,000 assisted care facilities throughout the US in the coming weeks and months in administering the coronavirus vaccine.Earlier this week, CVS announced plans to vaccinate those working or living in 40,000 assisted living facilities.Walgreens expects to vaccinate 3 million residents and staff at facilities throughout the US. (KGTV) – A growing number of locals who trying to make it in San Diego are flying out of the Tijuana International Airport to save money on airline tickets.In only its third year of service, San Diego's Cross Border Xpress, or “CBX”, is soaring in sales. “You can save so much money by traveling out of CBX,” said Luis Palacios, CBX's Chief Commercial Officer. The pedestrian bridge in Otay Mesa goes over the border and into the Tijuana airport. It’s located about 20 minutes south of downtown San Diego. RELATED: What to know about using Tijuana's Cross Border Xpress“More than 85 percent of our travel for the whole year, by the end of 2018, crossed in less than 15 minutes,” said Palacios. San Diegan Arun Srinivasan uses CBX to fly to business meetings in Mexico. “It’s essentially like having a second airport in San Diego that just costs less,” Srinivasan said. “Every roundtrip flight, I've saved three to four hundred dollars.” RELATED: Making It in San Diego: Local cities among top in the U.S. for staycations Srinivasan said CBX also saves him time. “[Departing from] San Diego, I have to connect through LAX or San Francisco." From the Tijuana airport, there are 35 nonstop flights throughout Mexico and two to China. Security is a concern for some travelers. A 2019 report ranked Tijuana as the most dangerous city in the world. Palacios said CBX puts safety first. “It’s totally secure. Parents of a Wisconsin teen demand change after their son took his own life. Quinten Espinoza and his family just moved to Glendale, Wisconsin from Ohio four months ago. He was an 8th grader at Glen Hills Middle School. The parents said they knew he was dealing with some bullying but never thought it would go as far as it did."He always said, I told the teachers, it's not a big deal. I'll go up. No, I'm okay, I got it taken care of,” said Espinoza’s mother Lara Furko. “Never showed any other signs of anything. So I never thought to pursue it any further. And now I'm at where I'm at today.”Furko saved some of the messages he received. About three weeks ago a female classmate wrote, “I hate you so much, I hope you die.” Espinoza responded, “I’m a human being just like you and if I do you will feel guilty. #StopBullying.”On Wednesday the principal of Glen Hills invited parents to a meeting to share concerns about Espinoza’s death. Espinoza’s family is questioning the school's response to his death. School leaders said it’s an ongoing investigation by police and the school district, and that there were no reports of bullying.  1183
