SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Six months after closing its doors to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic, SeaWorld San Diego is reopening through their weekend Zoo Days Bayside BBQ and Brews events. The special event will take place every weekend until SeaWorld can fully open. The park's attractions will be very limited, with guests able to enjoy all outdoor animals exhibits and shows."We’re opening as an accredited zoo and you can come in and enjoy all the live animal presentations we’re world famous for like the Orca Encounter, dolphins, Sea Lions Live and all the outdoor exhibits that people love and miss," said SeaWorld Park President Marilyn Hannes..Among closed signs for indoor exhibits, game rooms and rides, guests will also notice dozens of sanitizer stations, distance markers and download codes for digital park maps spread throughout.Visitors will also be able to continue enjoying the tide pool areas. "The water is highly filtrated, each of the systems were designed to be a touch pool so they have a high filtration and so that constant turnout makes it safe to do the interaction," Hannes said.Although some of the attractions are closed, Hannes said new ones will take its place, adding, "We’ve opened up Vistas to the Bay so we have a new waterfront area where you can that ocean breeze and try craft beers."Zoo Days will take place every Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. The event has a limited capacity and purchasing a ticket online acts as a reservation. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police say no foul play was involved with human remains discovered in a fire pit last month.The remains were discovered by a man on Oct. 29, 2020, just after 10:30 a.m. in the fire pit located on the east end of Fiesta Island, according to police. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police say there may be more victims of a sexual assault suspect arrested last month.Juan Carlos Cordero, 35, was arrested on March 21 for multiple sexual assaults, police say. Based on the evidence though, police are looking other possible victims or persons with information.The crimes may have occurred between early 2015 and March 2019.Cordero is currently in custody and being held on million bail.He's described as a Hispanic male, about 6-feet tall, weighing 185 pounds, with neck length brown hair and unshaven. He also may have identified himself as "JC."Police said Cordero would approach intoxicated women at bars and nightclubs and convince them to go back to his apartment or hotel, where he sexually assaulted them. SDPD added he may have met women through online dating apps, where "he meets us with them, has them consume alcohol and/or drugs, and sexually assaults them." SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - South Bay Pentecostal Church has been involved in a legal battle since May regarding worshiping indoors, and officials think Friday could be the light at the end of the tunnel.Senior Pastor Arthur Hodges believes during a motions hearing Friday morning the church will be granted permission to reopen indoors.His hope comes from the latest rulings by several judges.On Dec. 3, the Supreme Court ruled places of worship in New York could reopen, saying restrictions meant to curb the pandemic violated the First Amendment of the Constitution.After that ruling, the high court issued an unsigned order to California judges to reconsider Gov. Gavin Newsom's restrictions.On Wednesday, a judge ruled restaurants could reopen indoors in San Diego."That absolutely makes us hopeful, and I've told restaurateurs, business owners, whatever, we're fighting for you, too. Now we have a bigger gun than they do. We've got the Constitution, OK; they don't have that. but they're finding ways to get around it with the right to assemble," Hodges said.Hodges said back in May their initial lawsuit was voted down 5-4 by the Supreme Court.Hodges believes under a high court that shifted majority when Judge Amy Coney Barrett replaced the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg, they will prevail."If religious liberties are lost, you can mark it down your personal liberties are going to be lost," Hodges said, arguing this lawsuit is to protect more than places of worship.Hodges said if they win this legal battle it will pave the way for the rest of the country. 1563

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Some Point Loma Nazarene University students have been told to shelter in place after a cluster of students tested positive for coronavirus.The university says it’s seen an increase of 12 cases. According to the school, 50 students were identified as close contacts.“A cluster of cases and potential exposures have been identified in the following dorm floors:Klassen Hall - 3rd North: three positive cases in isolation Hendricks Hall - 1st South: four positive cases in isolation Young Hall - 4th Floor: three positive cases in isolation Per university protocol, these positive cases are already in isolation in specific university housing outside of the potentially impacted floors,” the school said.The university says it is also monitoring two unrelated cases in Nease Hall.Read the full letter from the school below: 849
