Officers arrived and spoke to the driver who reported that while transporting passengers, his vehicle was struck by another car and that car left the scene,” a police spokesperson said.“That was the scariest moment of my life,” Swann said. “I have never been that scared in my life. It was a nightmare.”The couple says they suffered minor bruises and were checked out at the hospital.A spokesperson with Uber said they are also investigating the ride.“This driver’s behavior is concerning, and we have removed his access to the app pending investigation,” said an Uber spokeswoman.Anyone with information about the first hit and run or this incident is asked to call Detective G. The baby was immediately transported to a local hospital for care."We are proud to have this resource available for the residents of Seymour, Indiana," Fire Chief Brad Lucas said in a release. "We strive everyday to ensure the safety of our residents and this is just a way to ensure the safety of newborns."The baby box in Seymour became available last year when Hunter Wart, a high school senior, raised the money to place the box in the fire station.The fire department was notified by the alarm as soon as the newborn's mother opened the outside door to place the baby in the box. Within 60 seconds, the newborn baby was retrieved from the box and received medical care. "This mother loved this child and it takes a very special person to want what's best for a child and know that it's not her," Monica Kelsey, founder of Safe Haven Baby Boxes, said. "That's the ultimate act of selflessness. in Colorado on Sunday afternoon.The Larkspur Fire Department said the group of eight people were hiking near the Devils Head Lookout at the summit around 3 p.m. when the lightning strike in Pike National Forest occurred. Ryan Smedra, the incident commander for Jackson 105 Fire Protection District, said the strike hit a rock wall near the hikers and the blast knocked many of them violently to the ground.Five of the hikers affected were able to walk out of the area on their own, the fire department said. They were treated for minor injuries. But a couple of them had burns from the strike, Smedra said. Some of the patients also complained of having tingling sensations.Two other adults required assistance. One of them was transported to the hospital for observation. The eighth victim, an adult woman, suffered critical injuries. She had to be carried down from the trail in a stretcher and was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Officials could not say what type of injuries she sustained. However, Smedra said she did not appear to have burns.Douglas County Search and Rescue said the operation was challenging due to the area's terrain.
