SAN YSIDRO, Calif. (KGTV) - Border Patrol officials in San Diego say they are preparing for the possibility of interactions with 7,000 immigrants seeking asylum at the U.S-Mexico border in San Ysidro.Mexico has already offered asylum to the migrant caravan, officials say. If the group reaches Tijuana, they will be denied entry into the United States.1,300 U.S. military troops are at San Ysidro to support the border mission, but not in a law enforcement role, according to military officials.The Army, Marines, and military police will fill in gaps along the border and erect barriers, creating an infrastructure to make it harder to cross illegally.Border protection officials also told 10News there is no place to put the migrants. During a tour of the San Ysidro Port of Entry Friday, journalists were allowed to tour the holding area but forbidden to take photographs. ICE detention facilities are already at capacity, officials say, and any more additions would push the problem to the breaking point.Anyone who enters the U.S. illegally will be arrested, Border Patrol officials say."We are not going to allow large groups of aliens to come to this county and to enter this country unaddressed,” said Rodney Scott, U.S. Customs and Border Protection.Scott added that if the caravan does visit the U.S., nothing is off the table in terms of stopping them, including a full border shutdown.The military says it views its mission at the border as temporary, and says it plans to be gone by December 15. 1516

SANTEE, Calif. (KGTV) -- Schools in the Grossmont Union High School District reopened for in-person learning Tuesday, allowing students back on campuses for the first time since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March.A large number of students began in-class instruction on Tuesday, but there were many others who chose to remain at home for distance learning.ABC 10News was at Santana High School in Santee on Tuesday morning as students with masks on trickled onto campus. Each student underwent a health screening before heading into their classrooms.Under the district’s blended learning plan, reopening campuses to a limited number of students is step 2 out of 5. Each school will only have 25 percent of students on their campuses. These students have been split up into different groups A-D depending on factors like their course schedule.RELATED: In-person learning to resume for some in the Grossmont Union High School DistrictThe groups determine which day the students will come to school. Each group will attend in-person learning once a week; the rest of the time they’ll be learning from home. Class sizes will be made up of 8 to 12 students.GUHSD Superintendent Theresa Kemper said it took a lot of organization and brainstorming to make the plan work, making sure they followed the state COVID-19 guidelines while juggling the daily campus routines.Kemper “At the secondary level, you have students traveling to multiple classrooms, and so it took a lot of work in how to break them up in groups so we can have the hybrid model."As for the full-time distance learners, Kemper said they will continue on with their schedule as planned until they can fully reopen their schools.Kemper also added that the district will see how things will go in terms of in-person learning and they’ll continue monitoring the state COVID-19 numbers as they figure out the next step in their reopening plans. 1917

A full moon occurs once every 29.5 days, so blue moons occur sporadically — about once every two-and-a-half years.When the full moon peaks at 8:37 ET on Saturday, it will mark the second full moon this month. The first full moon occurred on March 2. Take a good look, because it will be awhile before we see one again —Oct. 31, 2020, to be exact.It will actually be the second time this year we've experienced a blue moon. January also saw two blue moons — the first on Jan. 2, the second Jan. 31.2018 marks the first time since 1999 we've seen two blue moons in a single year. (KGTV) - Customs and Border Protection officials tweeted thermal camera video Friday of men climbing the U.S.-Mexico border fence and damaging the concertina wire.The video was recorded by U.S. Border Patrol cameras placed near Border Field State Park in Imperial Beach, opposite from where migrants have been gathering as more members of the Central American caravan arrive in Tijuana.There was no word on whether the incident captured on video led to an arrest.“All seeking to enter the U.S. are urged to do so at one of more than 320 official U.S. Ports of Entry,” Customs and Border Protection officials wrote in the tweet.  665
