However, it turns out that Hidalgo wasn't fired. According to Roman Stone Works, he returned to work two days after sharing the meme and then walked off the job on his own last Wednesday.Hidalgo confirms that happened, saying he went in after the text message because he wasn't entirely sure he was fired. However, he quit a few days after returning to work."With the bad blood, I didn't want to work there anymore," he said.Jan Jeffrey Rubenstein, a lawyer representing Roman Stone Works, says the company's owners have been receiving death threats at work and home. They say the backlash is unfair, especially when Hidalgo quit on his own."Roman Stoneworks and its owner and personnel have been subjected to significant monetary damage, as well as threats, profanity and harassment by phone and email," Rubenstein's statement read, in part. "Due to the backlash from these false claims, my client's webpage has had to be removed, and the individuals involved have been inundated with calls and emails.""I never meant for people to blow it up like that or spam their company or defame their name," Hidalgo explained. He might delete the post, but believes the "damage is done."Hidalgo is now waiting to hear if he will get a new job after an interview."Watch what you share sometimes because it could get you in trouble. It can look bad on you," Hidalgo added.Read the entire statement issued by Roman Stone Works' lawyer below. 1436

Hours after telling TMZ he wanted to walk his daughter down the aisle, Thomas Markle said he will have heart surgery Wednesday morning and cannot attend Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding, the US-based celebrity news site reported.According to TMZ, Thomas Markle said surgeons will clear blockage in his heart, repair damage and put in a stent.Earlier in the day, Markle told TMZ he wanted to walk his daughter down the aisle as she marries Prince Harry at Saturday's royal wedding."I hate the idea of missing one of the greatest moments in history and walking my daughter down the aisle," he said, according to the first TMZ report.Markle has been involved in controversy since it was revealed he allegedly staged a series of photos captured by an American paparazzo.According to the TMZ report, Markle thinks that staging the photos was "stupid" but not a serious transgression. The first report said Markle was in the hospital after reportedly being treated for a heart attack a week ago.CNN has reached out to Thomas Markle for comment over phone and over email but has yet to receive an answer. When asked about the TMZ report, Kensington Palace declined to comment.Meghan Markle's half-sister, Samantha Markle, recently said she was the "culprit" who urged their father to stage the photos in an ill-fated bid to improve his image. She said her father had "suffered at the hands of the media" and had decided "enough is enough."Thomas Markle is a former lighting director who worked on popular TV shows "Married with Children" and "General Hospital," according to the Internet Movie Database. He met Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, at a Hollywood studio in the late '70s and the pair split when their daughter was still young.CNN also contacted General Hospital in Rosarito, Mexico, where Markle is thought to have stayed previously, but officials would not say whether he is there.  1907

In a Tuesday morning tweet, President Donald Trump pushed an unfounded conspiracy theory suggesting a 75-year-old protester in Buffalo who was pushed to the ground by police was an "ANTIFA provocateur."In the tweet, Trump claimed 75-year-old Martin Gugino, "was pushed away after appearing to scan police communications in order to black out the equipment."Trump claimed his information came from One America News Network, a conservative news channel known for its favorable coverage of the president. He did not provide a link or a video of the report.Gugino remains in serious but stable condition at Erie County Medical Center. Gugino was part of a group protesting outside of Buffalo's City on Thursday against police brutality in the wake of George Floyd's death. Video from the scene shows police in riot gear shove Gugino out of the way. When an officer offers help him up, another officer appeared to chastise him for doing so. 943

Hurricane Harvey was a big headline in 2017. A year later, many continue to recover from the storm. They’re also remembering the government’s response, as they head to the polls to cast their ballots in the upcoming midterm election.“Yes, for the last three and a half years, walking into this house has been very depressing, I would say,” says Houston homeowner Greg Roberts. It hasn’t been easy for the Roberts, who live in Houston’s Meyerland neighborhood."We got flooded out in 2015, 2016, and 2017 with Harvey, as well," Roberts says. The Roberts haven’t lived in this home since it was first flooded in 2015. Harvey brought in more flood damage. Now, the couple is raising their home's foundation higher than the levels Harvey's waters reached. "If you look up and down the streets of this neighborhood and many others, you will find many others that have been lifted or completely demolished," Roberts says. Many residents in the area are preparing for the next storm. But the past isn't lost in this election cycle.  "The topic of flooding and recovery from flooding has not left the public conscious for at least the last three years, probably before, especially the past three and a half years,” Roberts says.Roberts says it’s a major talking point for politicians in Texas. After so much flooding, the Roberts say they've already answered another tough question about their future. Why do they stay?“That's a good question,” Roberts says. “It's a person by person decision; there's no question about that. We love for years. We fought for years to get into this neighborhood. So, we just really love the areas."There were a lot of things we really love about this neighborhood, so we stuck it out. We prayed about it thought about it and took all things into consideration." 1808
