LAKESIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - A woman was hit and killed by a suspected drunk driver while out jogging Monday night. The driver, identified as Michael Woodfill, was driving a Chevy work truck on North Woodside Avenue, east of Riverford Road around 6:30 p.m. when he began to drift off the road and hit a chain link fence, according to California Highway Patrol. It was at this point that Woodfill then attempted to correct the vehicle. In doing so, he overcorrected - sending the truck across the eastbound and westbound lanes. The truck continued moving north, where it hit and killed the female jogger before going down a dirt embankment and overturning. CHP said the female jogger suffered major injuries in the crash and was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital where she later died of her injuries. Woodfill stayed on scene after the crash and it was there that officers determined that he was under the influence of alcohol. The 46-year-old was arrested for felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter. No other vehicles were involved in the crash. (KGTV) — Rose Donuts, which was forced to close its doors after its owner was killed in April, will reopen Saturday for the first time.Randy Taing, 58, died from injuries sustained in a home invasion robbery on April 8.He and his wife had run Rose Donuts for 25 years, turning it into a beloved community hot spot. And having already been admitted to Georgia Tech, he could be on his way to the Red Planet sooner than you think.According to WXIA-TV and WSB-TV in Atlanta, Caleb's parents have known he was gifted since he was less than a year old. His mother, Claire Anderson, told WSB that he was beginning to mimic her words by the time he was three weeks old. Nine months later, WXIA reports that Caleb was able to use sign language to communicate over 250 words."I'm not really smart," Caleb told CBS News in October. "I just grasp information quickly. So, if I learn quicker, then I get ahead faster."WSB reports that Caleb is currently taking classes at both a local high school and at Chattahoochee Tech, a technical college in suburban Atlanta. In October, Caleb toured Georgia Tech and was later granted admission. He could begin attending classes at the revered Atlanta university as soon as next year.But Caleb has plans beyond college.“I think I am going to go to Mars, and do more school, I think, and try to get my master’s at Georgia Tech,” Caleb told WSB. “Then do an internship with Elon Musk, and then I’ll probably get my PhD at MIT. LA MESA, Calif. (KGTV) - A man reportedly armed with a knife was shot by police officers during a confrontation in La Mesa Monday.The shooting happened before 9 a.m. on Fletcher Parkway, at Amaya Drive, La Mesa police told 10News.Police said a 13-year-old girl reported that an unknown man was throwing knives at her and chased her.The girl ran to a sandwich shop to call 911, police told 10News. She was not injured.RELATED: Threats against East County schools investigatedResponding officers located the man on Fletcher Parkway and attempted to take him into custody, but during the confrontation in which police officials said he refused to drop a knife, officers fired at least two shots at the man.The injured man was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. His condition is unknown.According to the girl's mother, Tammy Brown, her daughter was on her way to Parkway Middle School when she stopped by to walk with a friend who lives near Fletcher Parkway and Amaya. Before she arrived, the victim noticed the man mumbling and yelling to himself before he reportedly threw a closed pocket knife at the victim, striking her.  1175
