LUBBOCK, TX — A 9-year-old girl from Texas who has been missing since 2016 was found safely on Monday after the story of her disappearance was featured on the television show "Live PD".Mariah Martinez was last seen on October 18, 2016, when she was taken from her home in Lubbock, Texas.On Friday night, the A&E show had a segment that chronicled the events that led to Mariah's disappearance. According to Fox News, Mariah's mother, Amanda, was close to losing custody of her three children and decided to take them and flee instead of going to court.A court order was issued after Amanda’s boyfriend allegedly punched Mariah's 5-year-old brother in the nose and threatened to kill the family by driving their car into a pond.The Live PD segment explained that in January 2017, police were tipped off about the family's whereabouts. Police found Amanda and two of the children, but not Mariah.The mother was arrested on felony charges, but Mariah's whereabouts remained a mystery.The television program ended by asking viewers to contact the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children if they knew anything.NCMEC posted to Facebook on Tuesday that Mariah was found in New Mexico following a viewer’s tip.The Lubbock Police Department also released a statement saying they were thankful to NCMEC for helping find Mariah.  1398

MADISON, Wis. – Donald Trump’s campaign manager Bill Stepien says the president plans to “immediately” request a recount in the battleground state of Wisconsin, which has been called for Joe Biden.With 95% reporting, the Associated Press said Wednesday afternoon that it projects the former vice president will pick up the state’s 10 electoral votes.The AP says it called the state for Biden after election officials in the state said all outstanding ballots had been counted, except for a few hundred in one township and they expected only a small number of provisional ballots.In Wisconsin, if a race is within 1 percentage point, the trailing candidate can force a recount. Statewide recounts in Wisconsin have historically changed the vote tally by only a few hundred votes. (AP) — A school board president in the San Francisco Bay Area has resigned after his wife's racist comments about Vice President-elect Kamala Harris raised an outcry.Jon Venverloh announced Sunday that he was stepping down from his position with the Las Lomitas Elementary School District in Menlo Park.His wife, Mehridith Philips Venverloh, tweeted Sunday in response to comments about Harris's qualifications that all she needed to be qualified was to have Black genitalia and added: "No brain needed!"She later apologized.Venverloh called his wife's remarks "reprehensible" and said he disagreed with them but added that his continuing presence on the board would be a distraction. 711

McDonald's is investing billion into their fast-food chains. Franchises across the country will be getting a new modern, high-tech look. The fast-food mogul says these updates will enhance the guest experience. Not only is it great for business, but it's great for communities. Franchise operator Laura Bucar says in her 40 years of doing business, McDonald's has never invested this much money into it's existing chains. "When we decide to move on anything, what that creates for the community, as far as jobs and resources, is incredible,” says Bucar. In order to create an incredible experience, McDonald's is investing millions of dollars into nearly every state to update their restaurants.“We just finished ours in July, and I can’t tell you how many electricians and plumbers locally that were sourced to come in, and even digital and technical people and so it really adds to the economy,” says Bucar.Each fast food restaurant is able to customize their artwork inside. Bucar is excited to give visibility to local artists. Not only is McDonald's offering jobs in the community for construction workers, but they are also adding a handful of positions inside their restaurants, too. They include mobile service pickup, table service and a guest enhancement lead (GEL). The GEL will help guest use the new kiosks to order their food when in a rush.  1432
