SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — This November will see two meteor showers and a lunar eclipse grace the skies.The Northern Taurid meteor shower will skirt across our atmosphere on Nov. 11-12, according to EarthSky. The event is also expected to produce about five meteors per hour, but the shower is famous for its slow-moving and bright meteors.The next week, the Leonid meteor shower will peak on Nov. 16-17. That shower is expected to produce 15 to 20 meteors per hour. NASA says the Leonid shower happens every November and features some of the fastest moving meteors out there, traveling at about 44 miles per second.Stargazers are encouraged to get the best viewing of the meteor shower by finding an area away from lights and laying flat, with feet facing east, to take in as much sky as possible, according to NASA. The best viewing time will be around midnight and last until dawn.Then to cap off the month, on Nov. 30, a penumbral lunar eclipse will visible throughout North America. The moon will appear slightly darker because the sun, Earth, and moon are imperfectly aligned. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The only child to live through the Paradise Hills murder-suicide, died Saturday, relatives told 10News. Nine-year-old Ezequiel Valdivia passed at 11:23 Saturday night at Rady Children's Hospital after his family made the difficult decision to pull the plug."He's probably been gone from us for a while," said Karl Albright, Rosario's brother-in-law. "We were just using the machines to keep his body with us. But he has been upstairs with his family, watching us."Ezequiel's father, Jose Valdivia, also shot and killed his sons, Enzi, 3, Zuriel, 5, and Zeth, 11, and their 29-year-old mother, Sabrina Rosario. Valdivia then turned the gun on himself.The muder-suicide happened on Saturday, November 16 at the family's home on Flintridge Drive in Paradise Hills.The Paradise Hills community and the Twin Hills Little League came together to host this month's "Cruise Reo Car Show" as a fundraiser to help the family."The whole community of Paradise Hills came out today, and the Twin Hills Little League. They are our family forever," Vanessa Pash said. She, like Sabrina Rosario, is a Twin Hills Little League mom. Albright said Baby Enzi was the shy one, Zuriel was playful. Ezequiel was the athlete and Zeth was a sensitive sweetheart. All of them poured their love for baseball into the Twin Hills Little League."The little one was only three, and he wasn't old enough to play, but the coaches would let him go out there and practice, and make him feel like he was part of the team," Pash said. To honor the three players, the league decided to retire each child's jersey number. They also agreed to play in the boys' honor for all future games. Albright says he is overwhelmed with what the community continues to do for their family. "It's amazing how many people are coming together to do all of these things for complete strangers," Albright said. The family is now in the process of donating Ezequiel's organs. The boys and their mother will be buried together. "There's no pain, there's no suffering, no anguish, no anxiety. There's nothing. Pure peace," Albright said. Officers received another call en route to the home from a neighbor who said they heard arguing and what they believed to be a "nail gun firing." Three of the boys were found dead in the home. Ezequiel survived for one week, but was taken off life support November 23 after the doctors said he was brain dead, according to Rosario’s brother-in-law. The boys lived in the home with their mother and other relatives, but not Valdivia, who was in the process of divorcing Rosario. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Thousands of Californians gathered Saturday night across the state to protest the newest restrictions put in place by Governor Gavin Newsom to slow the spread of the coronavirus.Last Saturday, Syndie Ly helped organize the first "Curfew Breakers" rally. "Across 16 cities, we had 10,000 people show up," she said.Ly lives in Huntington Beach and said in four days their Facebook page "blew up."She said people are frustrated by the curfew from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. saying it is an overreach, "when the government starts telling you when you can leave the house, how many people you can invite over to your own home."What's happening in the U.S. reminds her of when her family escaped in Vietnam."I was born in China and my parents emigrated to Vietnam, and we came here [to the U.S.] legally but we came here as refugees to escape North Vietnam during the fall of Vietnam ... Just being told what to do, a lot of the government overreach, I feel we're actually on the brink of getting back to that and that's why I'm involved in this," said Ly.She said between layoffs and businesses being forced to close, the impact on people's livelihoods is worse than the virus itself."It's our lives, and we feel we are responsible individuals that can make our own decisions," Ly said.The rallies will continue every Saturday, starting at 10:01 p.m. until Ly and the organizers see change, she added.In San Diego, a rally is planned for Saturday at 10:01 p.m. at 910 N. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The Port of San Diego will begin its first over water testing of lighting on the San Diego-Coronado Bay Bridge, as the Port continues efforts to install lighting across a portion of the bridge.The testing will start on Sunday, Nov. 8, and continue to Saturday, Nov. 14, from 6:15 p.m. to midnight.The testing will include 170 computer-programmed LED lights and controllers temporarily installed on three of the bridge's tallest columns near the center of the structure. Each night, a live technical test will be conducted in different colors, combinations, sequencing, and arrangements."This bridge lighting test provides San Diego a unique opportunity to see what’s possible and how the infusion of technology and art can make people feel connected to, and inspired by, our beautiful waterfront," said Commissioner Marshall Merrifield, Port of San Diego Board of Port Commissioners. "Our goal is to ignite the imaginations of every person in the San Diego region, and after years of dedicated time to the project, bring forward a viable, beautiful addition to the nighttime skyline."The testing will see periods of darkness as other aspects are being tested, so the lighting won't be constant illuminated.The upcoming testing is the second test of the project. The first took place in April 2019, when lighting was tested on two columns over land on the San Diego side of the bridge.Following the over water testing, the Port will reach out to community members for input about the lighting and design. 1530
