SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police Tuesday released video of a deadly officer-involved shooting in El Cerrito. The body camera footage is being released within 45 days of the incident as part of Assembly Bill 748. The video shows the moment 52-year-old Dennis Carolino was shot by an officer. According to police, Carolino’s aunt called police the night of August 24 to report that he hit her in the head with a brick. The 70-year-old woman told police Carolino had psychiatric issues. RELATED: Man dies following officer-involved shooting in El CerritoPolice requested the assistance of the Psychiatric Emergency Response Team (PERT) and responded to the home in the 5800 block of Adelaide Avenue, where officers encountered Carolino in the backyard.“As the officers entered the backyard area to determine the location of the man, he quickly emerged from an outbuilding, holding a shovel. The officers gave the man verbal commands to drop the shovel. One of the officers drew his Taser at that point. The man did not cooperate with the officers’ commands and began to rapidly advance on the officers as he swung the shovel. One officer fired the Taser, which did not have any effect on him. The man continued to advance, prompting the other officer to fire his service weapon,” San Diego Police said in a statement.San Diego Police say three seconds passed from the time Carolino left the outbuilding to the time he was shot. Officers provided aid to Carolino until paramedics arrived, but he died shortly after. Officer Jose Mendez, a 16-year veteran of the department, fired his Taser, SDPD said. The officer who fired his service weapon was identified as Officer Brad Keyes, a four-year veteran of the department. 1717

They're calling for a curfew to be imposed at the park from 9 pm - 5 am."Every rule that's posted here is broken all day long and mostly all night long," says one woman who asked 10News not to identify her because she feels unsafe in her home next to the park. "I can get practically high from the marijuana that comes into my window cause it overlooks the park. The noise becomes just unbearable at times."The park opened in 2014, on 43rd Street in between Polk and University Avenue. Sitting between a senior center, an apartment complex and a health clinic, It was designed as a way to give adults in the community a gathering place.Instead, neighbors say it's been overrun with crime and drugs.A search of the website crimemapping.com shows 148 crimes reported within 1000 feet of the park over the last six months. That includes 21 stolen cars, 19 assaults and 16 robberies.It's gotten to the point where some people say they're afraid to walk by it, especially at night."Of course I would like to be in this park, to spend my free time there," says Isaac Musaazi, who lives in the apartment complex next door. "But I can't because of the people who are there."A community meeting to discuss a curfew and how to enforce it is scheduled for Thursday with the Community Parks Committee. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — One person is dead and police are searching for a suspect Saturday after a shooting in the Chollas Creek neighborhood.San Diego Police said the shooting occurred at about 2:30 p.m. in the 5200 block of University Ave. A 26-year-old Hispanic man was in an argument with a suspect at the interaction of 52nd St. and University Ave., according to witnesses, where the altercation continued toward the 4000 block of 52nd St.At that point, the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the victim, police said.The man was taken to a nearby hospital where he died of his injuries.The suspect fled, heading west on University Ave.No suspect description was available.Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call SDPD 619-531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at 88-580-8477. 787

Players throw an axe at a wooden target and score points based on where the axe lands. There are three rounds, with five throws per player.Steve and Annie Wyland created the facility after throwing axes on the East Coast. Steve lost his job, and the couple decided to move to San Diego.Their new project offers experiences like birthday and bachelor/bachelorette parties, and corporate outings. Five of the facility’s 11 lanes are dedicated to walk-ins. There’s also league play on Wednesday nights.If you’ve never thrown an axe, don’t worry, BattleAxe SD says.
