OTAY MESA, Calif. (KGTV) - A vintage biplane had an emergency at a South Bay airport Tuesday, sending it skidding off the runway and onto its nose. The incident with the single-engine Stearman plane was reported at Brown Field Municipal Airport, 1424 Continental St. The pilot and one passenger were on board but escaped without injury, San Diego Fire-Rescue Chief Colin Stowell reported on twitter. The plane had minor damage. Stowell tweeted that the FAA and NTSB were notified about the crash to investigate its cause. City News Service contributed to this report. 575

PARSIPPANY, N.J. — The loss of Hannah Ernst’s grandfather, Cal Schoenfeld, is still very fresh in her mind."He was one in a million," she said when describing him. "He had a heart of gold and his smile was beyond anything."It was on May 8 when the family’s patriarch lost a month-long battle with COVID-19.The loss was devastating to the Parsippany family, all happening at the height of the COVID-19 crisis in New Jersey."There was a lot of panic, a lot of pandemonium," she said.A time of mourning soon turned into a moment of inspiration for the 15-year-old, who created a digital portrait to honor her grandfather."I was just really messing on my iPad," Ernst explained. "I’ve seen something similar where you make silhouettes of people but I thought how cool would it be if someone put the yellow heart, which is the symbol of COVID, in the back of them."The creative and powerful tribute was later posted by the teen’s mom in a COVID-19 support group on Facebook which then led to others inquiring about getting their loved ones memorialized.Her “Faces of Covid” project then materialized and 325 portraits later, Ernst says she’s just getting started."I think they felt a part of something," she said, referring to what her portraits brought to families. Pharmaceutical company Pfizer announced on its website that it had received permission from the Food and Drug Administration that they can enroll children as young as 12 in its COVID-19 vaccine trial.According to CNN, this is the first coronavirus vaccine trial in the U.S. to include children." By doing so, we will be able to better understand the potential safety and efficacy of the vaccine in individuals from more ages and backgrounds," the company said on its website.The Vaccine Research Center at Cincinnati Children's Hospital says teenagers aged 16 and 17 will get the vaccine this week, and children between 12 and 15 years old will be enrolled in the trial later, CNN reported.The drugmaker, which is in Phase 2/3 of its trial, enrolled more than 37,000 participants, and over 31,000 of them have received a second dose of the vaccine.In September, the company expanded its enrollment to 44,000 to begin trials on teenagers as young as 16 and anyone with chronic, stable HIV, Hepatitis C, or Hepatitis B.Pfizer is one of four companies currently in the U.S. to have a vaccine trial deep into Phase 3: Moderna, AstraZeneca, and Johnson & Johnson.Johnson & Johnson had to pause its trial on Monday due to a participant getting an "unexplained illness."AstraZeneca paused its trial on Sept. 8 due to "potential unexplained illness," but the company said on its website that it resumed the trial on Sept. 12. 1433

Police searched early Thursday for a man who robbed a Nashville area pizza chain at gunpoint.Metro Nashville Police officers were called to the Domino's Pizza on Hamilton Crossing in Antioch at about midnight Thursday.  Two employees told officers they heard the drive-thru bell go off, and saw a Toyota Camry parked a short distance from the window. When one of the employees approached the window, he told officers a man who had been crouching below the window jumped up and pointed a handgun at the worker.Police said the suspect then crawled through the drive-thru window and demanded the workers empty the cash register. He took the cash and left the Domino's through the drive-thru window. The victims told police they saw the suspect get into the white Toyota Camry they saw parked away from the window. Neither Domino's worker was hurt in the robbery. Investigators don't have much in the way of a description of the suspect, as the victims told them he had his face covered with a black and white bandana. Officers at the scene told us there is surveillance video that they are reviewing. The video has not been released to the public just yet.  1197
