SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The brother-in-law of a woman killed in a murder-suicide in Paradise Hills spoke to 10News about her relationship with the father of her young sons.On the morning of Nov. 16, 29-year-old Sabrina Rosario and her four sons were shot by the boys' father in a home on Flintridge Drive, according to San Diego police.Rosario and three of her sons died, and the boys' father -- identified as 31-year-old Jose Valdivia -- shot himself to death after killing the family members.As of Sunday afternoon, Rosario's 9-year-old son, Ezequiel, was in an induced coma at Rady Children's Hospital.RELATED: Parents, 3 children killed in Paradise Hills murder-suicideKarl Albright, Rosario's brother-in-law, told 10News, "No one thinks it's going to happen until it's happened."Albright said he has so many questions about what led Valdivia to gun down his wife and children. According to Albright, Valdivia's infidelity broke Rosario's heart a year ago, and she decided to end things."She had made her mind up that it's over, and he didn't want to accept that," Albright said. "He wanted it back. And he tried to, the love way, and then he tried the fear way, and he tried every way in between to try to break through, but she stood her ground."Albright said Valdivia's threatening texts and stalker behavior escalated six months ago when he bragged about purchasing a gun.Albright explained Valdivia would tell Rosario, "I'm going to come over and kill myself in front of you guys. I'm going to kill you guys, then kill myself."Rosario told him that he sounded like the boy who cried wolf, according to Albright.A records search shows two cases of domestic violence in 2019. On Nov. 15, police said Rosario spent the whole day at court obtaining a restraining order against her husband.When he called that night, she told him she had no other choice. He never called back.Albright said she told him that their problems would be solved, and her children would be safe."Even what they were living in, and what she was going through in the house, she had an umbrella over the kids, and it never fazed them," Albright said.Instead, the next morning, police said the children's father came into the granny flat on Flintridge Drive and shot his wife and four children in the head before shooting himself.Rosario and 3-year-old Enzi died at the home. Five-year-old Zuriel, 9-year-old Ezequiel, and 11-year-old Zeth were rushed to the hospital. Zuriel and Zeth did not make it.Life will never be the same for relatives who live next door."Now that Thanksgiving is coming up and Christmas. We've already got Christmas gifts for the kids and for her," Albright said.Those gifts will remain under the tree in their honor."They were fun-loving. They were well-raised. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The Climate Prediction Center released the final El Ni?o advisory for 2019, which means El Ni?o is over and now we are in a neutral phase with a 55 percent chance of continuing into winter.So what does that mean for the rest of summer and, most importantly, San Diego's winter? In order to put this in perspective, let’s review what this seasonal change means.San Diegans typically associate El Ni?o with a wet winter, or more rain and a better water supply. However, El Ni?o is more than that.The National Weather Service defines El Ni?o as a recurring climate pattern involving changes in the central and eastern tropical Pacific Ocean. Warm and cool changes are associated with the ENSO cycle. El Ni?o and La Ni?a are extreme phases of the ENSO cycle, but there is a third phase, less well known, called the ENSO neutral. That third phase is where San Diego is headed for the rest of the year and possibly through the winter months. El Ni?o and La Ni?a have a greater impact during the winter months. La Ni?a doesn’t do much for winters in California; it typically keeps San Diego dry and warm. The opposite happens during El Ni?o, which explains why it’s so much more popular. El Ni?o brings an active Jet and more frequent storms, reducing our drought and helping our water supply, with cold driven storms and snow for the Sierra Nevada mountains. The neutral phase is where San Diego is headed this fall with a 55 percent chance of it sticking around through the winter. The ENSO neutral phase is neither cold like La Ni?a nor warm like El Ni?o. The ENSO neutral phase is associated with sea surface temperatures closer to average, and stronger winds near the equator. It typically keeps the coldest air over the Northeast, warmer temperatures through the southern portion of the country, and wetter through the Midwest and Northeast.The ENSO Neutral typically keeps San Diego warm and dry. The extended forecast calls for above-normal temperatures for the remainder of the summer and near normal rain, which means dry since we are usually dry during those months.The winter outlook also brings near to slightly above normal temperatures. Rainfall will average near normal. San Diego's rainy season begins in November and lasts through March, sometimes lasting through April. During the months of November through April, we average more than 9 inches of rain. So, all we need is one storm every month during the winter time to keep us on track for the year. While the forecast favors an ENSO Neutral phase, there is a 30 percent chance the seasonal outlook could retrend toward El Ni?o. If we go back to El Ni?o, there is a better chance any given storm that moves into Southern California will be a rain maker, even if we only have a few storms.We will continue to monitor the changes; another year of surplus rain would be great for our region. 3074

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The month of love is upon us, which means couples planning to tie the knot on Valentine's Day don't have long to request a ceremony with the county.The San Diego County Clerk’s office is accepting appointments for couples wanting to renew their vows or get married on Feb. 14."We are excited to offer walk-in services at our historic downtown office on the waterfront for Valentine’s Day and don’t want couples to miss their chance at a Valentine’s Day wedding," said County Clerk Ernie Dronenburg. The downtown office (at 1600 Pacific Highway, Suite 273) will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for marriage licenses and ceremony appointments.
