FREDERICK, Colorado – The bodies of Chris Watts’ two young daughters were found inside oil and gas tanks that “were mostly full,” several high-ranking sources tell Scripps' Denver affiliate KMGH-TV.The high ranking sources said Thursday evening they believe Watts placed the bodies of 4-year-old Bella and 3-year-old Celeste in the oil and gas tanks owned by Anadarko in order to hide the bodies and conceal the smell.Frederick police officials said in a 6:30 p.m. update Thursday that the bodies of the two young girls were found in close proximity to the other body whom officers strongly believe is Shanann Watts. Her body was found on property owned by Anadarko Petroleum earlier Thursday. Investigators have not yet confirmed the location of the bodies. Few masks, no social distancing, hugs, and handshakes were likely a jarring sight for public health experts and Americans cautiously going about life amid the coronavirus pandemic. With hundreds of our nation’s leaders sitting shoulder to shoulder last Saturday in the White House Rose Garden, President Donald Trump picked Judge Amy Coney Barrett to fill the open seat on the Supreme Court following the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. In the six days that have followed, at least 10 known coronavirus cases have emerged from that event, including President Donald Trump, first lady Melania Trump, Sens. Thom Tillis, and Mike Lee, Notre Dame John I. Jenkins, Pastor Greg Laurie, Gov. Chris Christie, White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany and former White House adviser Kellyanne Conway. The White House Correspondents Association (WHCA) also said an unnamed reporter who attended Saturday's announcement also tested positive for the virus. That person became symptomatic on Wednesday and tested positive on Friday. The WHCA has confirmed that two other journalists who cover the White House have tested positive for the virus in recent days, though it's unclear if those unnamed reporters were present for Barrett's nomination. In addition, others who have been in contact with Trump, White House senior aide Hope Hicks, and RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel, have tested positive for the virus. The CDC says that the incubation period for the coronavirus is up to 14 days following infection, meaning it’s possible more attendees could develop symptoms in the coming days.Given the incubation period, the CDC urges those who have been in close contact with positive coronavirus cases to quarantine for 14 days. With a number of prominent members of government now infected with the virus, it’s unclear how many US senators, senior White House aides, and others in the upper echelons of the US government will follow these guidelines after snubbing social distancing guidelines. For those who have been infected, they now are urged to isolate for at least 10 days to prevent the spread of the virus. In severe cases, isolation could be required for up to 20 days, the CDC says. 2187
For a fourth straight night, protests are taking place in Kenosha, Wisconsin, as demonstrators demand justice for Jacob Blake, a man shot in the back by police during a Sunday confrontation. The protests are taking place hours after a 17-year-old Illinois boy was arrested and charged with shooting three protesters in the city on Tuesday night. Two of those protesters died, the third was hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. To the west, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey has requested help from the National Guard following unrest in his city. The protests are related to a Wednesday shooting death that was rumored to have involved police officers. After video of the incident was shared on social media, rioting and looting took place at a local mall. However, the Minneapolis Police Department released footage Wednesday that they say showed the shooting was self-inflicted.The nationwide protests are also taking place hours after the Milwaukee Bucks refused to take the court, citing frustration with continued police brutality. Several other pro sports teams, including the MLB's Milwaukee Brewers, also took part in the strike.Blake was shot at least seven times in the back by Officer Rusten Sheskey as he entered his car after officers were called over a "domestic dispute." Police say Blake had possession of a knife in his vehicle.Blake’s family said on Tuesday that the 29-year-old is partially paralyzed, but was fortunate to survive from his injuries. 1492
Fred Meyer stores will phase out all sales of guns and ammunition, according to parent company, Kroger."Fred Meyer has made a business decision to exit the firearms category," Kroger spokesperson Kristal Howard said in an emailed statement on Monday. The company said it made the decision last week "after evaluating changing customer preferences" and also "softening consumer demand" for guns for the last several years.Annual gun sales at Fred Meyer are million and "continue to decline," according to the company."More recently Fred Meyer has been transitioning away from gun departments as a result of the ongoing work to optimize space in Fred Meyer stores," the company said. The news comes after Kroger announced last week that the grocer will stop selling magazines featuring "assault rifles."Earlier this month, Kroger said its Fred Meyer stores would stop selling guns to anyone under 21, even though the law permits the sale of rifles to anyone 18 or older. Kroger has 45 Fred Meyer stores located in four Western states. This followed a decision by Dick's Sporting Goods Chief Executive Officer Edward Stack to stopping selling what he called "assault-style rifles" and high capacity magazines after a mass shooting at a high school in Parkland, Florida.Walmart, which stopped selling military-style semiautomatic rifles back in 2015, also recently raised its gun purchase age from 18 to 21.The-CNN-Wire 1423
