Walmart has a plan to help eliminate the stress shoppers get when waiting in long lines.The company’s new system is called “Check Out with Me.” First, a Walmart associate scans your items with their special, mobile device. Then, they’ll swipe your credit card right there, before handing you the receipt.The process eliminates having to wait in line for a cashier.  Marketing professor Darrin Duber-Smith at MSU Denver says consumers want options, and the main option they want is convenience. He says two companies in constant competition are Walmart and Amazon.Amazon recently announced their plans to open 3,000 brick and mortar stores-- that will be cashierless—by 2021.As for Walmart’s new checkout program, the company plans to position workers in the busiest sections of the store. EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) - A man accused of a hit-and-run crash on Highway 57 in Ramona pleaded not guilty Thursday. A judge set the bail at million for Chase Richard. Richard is accused of swerving into Michelle Scott and driving with her bicycle attached to his car for more than two miles during Tuesday’s crash. RELATED: Man arrested, vehicle seized in Ramona hit-and-run crashWitnesses said Richard ran red lights and stop signs before pulling into his driveway five miles from the scene. In court Thursday, prosecutors said Richard removed the front hood and bumper and spray-painted the rear of his Ford Edge. Investigators said Richard appeared to be making a run for it when they arrived. He had a large suitcase and backpack in a running vehicle when he was arrested. Richard faces up to nine years in prison if convicted. (KGTV) - A grieving dog owner says a routine surgery turned deadly after his dog suffered burns during a brief stay.In early May, John San Filippo brought 11-year-old Sofia, a Boxer mix, to the Bastet Veterinary Hospital for knee surgery."Dropped her off in the morning and picked up her up in the afternoon. She was doing great," said San Filippo.Six days after the surgery, San Filippo found several oozing sores on her right side. The vet told him the electric blanket used to warm Sofia had somehow burned her. "I was stunned, but at that point, it was just three little spots," said San Filippo.Within weeks, the full extent of the burns emerged: 3rd- and 4th-degree burns on over 40% of her body. Sofia developed sepsis and pneumonia, before she died in early June."Just broke down crying ... brought her in for knee surgery and my dog was barbecued," said San Filippo. San Filippo has filed a complaint with the State Veterinary Medical Board and wants the business shut down.Bastet Veterinary Hospital released the following statement: "We are deeply saddened by the passing of Sofia, which was a result of thermal burns derived from the malfunction of our patient warming system. We are committed to working with all involved parties to help recoup financial losses, and our hearts grieve along with Sofia'a family for their loss."Experts suggest asking your veterinarian about how they warm animals during anesthesia. (KGTV) - In a vigil of hope held Friday night, at least 60 people shared their homes that an El Cajon teen who is reported missing in Phoenix would soon be found. Nineteen-year-old Kiera Bergman grew up in El Cajon and went to Valhalla High School, her aunt, Mindy Tarantino told 10News. The teen moved to Phoenix earlier this year with her boyfriend. Bergman's roommate reported her missing Monday when she didn’t return home and had not shown up to work.“We were told she left her house without her purse, without her car, why would she do that,” Tarantino said. “This isn't in her character. She doesn't stop communicating with people.”Kiera’s mother and sister are in Phoenix waiting for any word from the police. Meantime, her family and friends in El Cajon lit candles and prayed for her safe return.“We haven’t slept in this whole week. It’s just horrible,” Tarantino told the crowd, reminding them to stay optimistic. “Somebody is going to crack and lead us to her.” 1014

Dr. Sean Conley, President Donald Trump’s physician, said on Monday that Trump has tested negative for the coronavirus on consecutive days.As Conley’s statement was released to the media on Monday, Trump was setting off for a Florida rally, marking his first voyage out of the White House since returning to the complex last Monday following a three-day stay Walter Reed Medical Center.Previously, Conley said that Trump was no longer infectious, but would not confirm if Trump had tested negative.Meanwhile, White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows dodged questions earlier on Monday on whether Trump had tested negative. Trump held his first public event since his coronavirus infection on Saturday, speaking to hundreds of supporters from the White House balcony.The CDC says that for most coronavirus patients, they are no longer contagious after 10 days, but the isolation period may need to be extended to 20 days depending on the severity of the infection.
