Passengers might be allowed to keep liquids and laptops in their carry-on bags at airport security checkpoints in the United States if screening technology being tested at select airports is widely adopted. The Transportation Security Administration announced plans Monday to test computed tomography (CT) scanners for carry-on bags, with up to 40 units expected to be in place at US airports by the end of 2018.The X-ray scanning equipment creates 3D images that can be analyzed on three axes for explosives and other threats. The CT technology is similar to that used for medical imaging. Current screening machines for carry-on bags generate 2D images."Use of CT technology substantially improves TSA's threat detection capability at the checkpoint," said TSA Administrator David Pekoske in a statement.CT technology testing started in 2017 at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and Boston's Logan International Airport. John F. Kennedy International Airport has also received a scanner.London's Heathrow is among international airports testing the 3D technology. An initial 15 units will be deployed within the next few months at the following US airports:Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI)Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD)Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG)Houston Hobby Airport (HOU)Indianapolis International Airport (IND)John F. PAHRUMP, Nev. (AP) — Officials in Nevada are identifying a 55-year-old man found dead under a vehicle they think may have collapsed on him due to earthquakes last week in nearby Southern California.Nye County Sheriff Sharon Wehrly (WER'-lee) said Thursday that investigators might never know for sure what caused Troy Ray to become pinned beneath his Jeep outside his trailer home in rural Pahrump.Sgt. Adam Tippetts says in an internet post that Ray was last seen alive at a nearby gas station July 3.A day later, a magnitude 6.4 earthquake struck near Ridgecrest, California, followed by a larger 7.1 temblor on July 5.Ridgecrest is about 95 miles (153 kilometers) west of Pahrump.Tippetts says Ray's death was ruled an accident resulting from asphyxia and blunt trauma. 780

PARADISE, Calif. (KGTV) - Dramatic body camera video recorded on the first day of Northern California's Camp Fire shows a Butte County Sheriff's deputy in what he thought would be the final moments of his life. Parmley got out to run to safety.Fearing that he was about to die, Parmley switched on his body camera to document the situation the morning of Nov. 8.Video shows Parmley walking near a home and down the middle of a road with burning embers surrounding him. Other people, including a nurse and police officer, were walking nearby. Parmley's struggle to breathe in the heavy smoke is apparent. The life-saving moment happened roughly an hour and 14 minutes after Parmley turned on his camera. A bulldozer approached Parmley and the police officer, and both men got inside to be taken to safety. The Camp Fire went on to become the deadliest fire in California history, with 88 fatalities and 196 people missing as of Nov. 29. Police in Delray Beach, Florida are looking for the person accused of attacking a 60-year-old man with a skateboard Sunday afternoon. The victim told police that a younger man used a skateboard as a weapon after the two exchanged words just before noon in the Dotterel Road neighborhood. The victim said he and his wife were walking around their property when they encountered a young man in a dark t-shirt, baggy shorts and dark skater sneakers. The victim's wife told police that she took a picture of the suspect because they have had problems with young men on skateboards damaging cars in the parking lot.The man with the skateboard told the victim to move, but he refused.Police said the suspect swung the skateboard, missing the victim, who fell to the ground. As he got up, he told officers that he unsuccessfully tried to push the attacker away. However the suspect, holding the skateboard in both hands, hit the man on the left side of his head, leaving him with a cut on his left ear and swelling on his head. Delray Beach Fire Rescue treated the victim at the scene of the attack. 1163
