Grocery workers continue to be on the front lines during the pandemic.United Way and Kendall-Jackson are now teaming up to get grocery workers more help through a national relief fund they've created.“What we have seen across the county in other disasters natural disasters is that initially there's this outpouring of support and people want to donate, but then it really starts to wane and lag just as the needs are starting to get even bigger,” said Suzanne McCormick, U.S. President of United Way Worldwide.The Grocery Worker's Relief Fund will be available to anyone currently employed by a grocery store.The fund will be giving out 0 per person on a gift card. Anyone who applies will also be connected with the 211 social services helplines in their area to see if they have other needs.United Way says housing insecurity is one of the top issues people are calling 211 about right now.Mental health has also become a much bigger concern among the people who are calling.“While people might call for financial assistance our call specialists who are trained as they start to enter into dialogue, they do discover that there's more there that the person might have anxiety,” said McCormick. “They might be in a domestic violence situation or have very serious mental health issues.”Grocery workers can start applying for the relief fund on October 1 on the United Way website. Georgia has re-certified the results of the presidential election in the state, hours after state Sec. of State Brad Raffensperger confirmed that a machine recount requested by the Trump campaign upheld president-elect Joe Biden's win in the state.Raffensperger also criticized those who continue to doubt the results of the 2020 presidential election in the state, saying that the push to overturn the results was "hurting the state."Georgia has counted ballots in the presidential election three times — the initial count, a full election audit and hand recount, which was done at Raffensperger's request, and a machine recount which was held a the request of the Trump campaign. All three counts have shown Biden won the state.Raffensperger says he's been personally pressured by fellow Republicans to personally intervene and overturn the results of the election. At a Saturday political rally, Trump criticized Raffensperger publicly.There is no evidence of widespread voter fraud in the state. Last week, Attorney General Bill Barr said the Justice Department had not yet found evidence of fraud that would change the outcome of the 2020 presidential election. 1174

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — Henrico Police are working to identify a woman who allegedly punched a teenage McDonald's employee in the face after the employee failed to put ketchup on her sandwich.The alleged assault took place at the White Oak McDonald's in eastern Henrico County.The victim's mom said that the woman approached her daughter and instigated a fight after she did not put ketchup on the woman's sandwich."She asked my daughter if she had a problem, and my daughter said, 'No, I have no problem,'" the victim's mother said. HANCOCK COUNTY, Ind. — One family in Indianapolis got a present a little early this holiday season.U.S. Navy Lt. Tawnee Hinton has been in Djibouti, Africa with the Combined Joint Task Force working on counterterrorism operations for the last 14 months.While she was deployed, her four children, Amelia, 5; Leyton, 9; Avarie, 13, and Christian, 21, were only able to talk their mother over FaceTime or texting.“Though the Navy has taken me away from my family on several occasions, and my husband was deployed numerous times before his retirement, this was a particularly lengthy deployment,” Hinton said.One event Hinton didn’t miss this year was her daughter Avarie’s choir concert.
