RAMONA (KGTV)- Myrtle the coyote is recovering at The Fund for the Animals Wildlife Center in Ramona, after the Rancho Bernardo neighborhood came together to help.Katie Ryan has been watching Myrtle the coyote for years, and sounded the alarm when she first saw the new mother ensnared in a pipe. Katie guessed Myrtle was trying to capture a small animal that hid in the pipe and she got stuck. It took five weeks of constant phone calls, prayers and sleepless nights looking after Myrtle before she could get a trapper to catch the elusive coyote."I can't even describe I was crying and laughing all at the same time," Ryan said, her smile wide. She enlisted neighbors to block off the area, after a failed attempt Monday night due to a man trying to approach Myrtle and scaring her off.Neighbors said they guarded the neighborhood for hours Tuesday evening, going home with no hope. Then, a few minutes later, Myrtle followed a trail of rotisserie chicken and was caught in a trap around 8:30p.m.The Fund for the Animals Wildlife Center picked up the coyote that night and sent this statement. 1118

RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. (KGTV) - A Fairbanks Ranch home damaged in a fire was once listed on Airbnb as a ‘mega mansion’ for rent, multiple sources show. The home in the 6800 block of Spyglass Lane caught fire Sunday night and burned for two hours until the flames were knocked down. A cleaning crew was in the home but escaped without injury. A Zillow listing for the 20,000 square foot house indicated it was on sale for almost million. It was previously available for rent for ,500 per week.“Magnificent Venetian palace in chic guard-gated Del Rayo Estates in the exclusive enclave Rancho Santa Fe, minutes from the Golf Course, Del Mar Racetrack & Beach,” the listing on Zillow reads. “In the past, the property has generated 0,000 in income from short term rentals.” RELATED: Crews knock down Fairbanks Ranch mansion fireAlthough a previous Airbnb listing was removed by Monday, an article about the most expensive U.S. rentals on farandwide.com reported the home had been available for rent as of November 2018. Rabbits are multiplying in the childrens' book section.Comedian John Oliver is provoking Mike Pence with a parody book about the vice president's pet bunny to coincide with the Pence family's release of a new children's book."Marlon Bundo's A Day in the Life of the Vice President" was written by the vice president's daughter, Charlotte Pence, and illustrated by second lady Karen Pence, a watercolor artist. The book, which is out Monday, "gives young readers a bunny's-eye view of the special duties of the vice president," per its publisher. Not to be out-bunned, HBO's "Last Week Tonight" released its own version, "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver Presents a Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo."The late-night comedy news program's book "tells the story of Vice President Mike Pence's famed pet rabbit's same-sex wedding," per its publisher."I live with my Mom, Grandma, and Grampa in an old, stuffy house on the grounds of the U.S. Naval Observatory. That's because my Grampa is the vice president. His name is Mike Pence. But this story isn't going to be about him because he isn't very fun. This story is about me, because I'm very, very fun," an excerpt of the spoof Bundo book reads alongside a watercolor picture of the rabbit, clad in a multicolor bow tie, hula-hooping on the grounds of the vice president's residence.Pence was criticized during his time as Indiana governor for his positions on issues important to the LGBTQ community, including signing a religious freedom bill into law in 2015.A spokesperson for Regnery Publishing, which issued the Pences' book, called the parody "unfortunate.""It's unfortunate that anyone would feel the need to ridicule an educational children's book and turn it into something controversial and partisan. Our and Mrs. and Charlotte Pence's goal is -- and will continue to be -- to educate young readers about the important role of the vice president, as well as to highlight the charities to which portions of the book proceeds will be donated," the spokesperson said in a statement. The proceeds of "A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo" will be donated to The Trevor Project and AIDS United, while the Pences will donate a portion their proceeds to A21, a nonprofit focused on combating human trafficking, and an art therapy program at Riley Hospital for Children. The parody version of the book was the No.1 bestseller on?Amazon.com Monday morning. The Pence version ranked 15th. 2464

Rear Adm. Ronny Jackson has withdrawn as President Donald Trump's nominee to lead the Department of Veterans Affairs, he said in a statement Thursday morning. His nomination was hampered by a flurry of allegations about Jackson's professional conduct. In a statement announcing his withdrawal, Jackson slammed allegations of improper behavior leveled against him as "completely false and fabricated.""If they had any merit, I would not have been selected, promoted and entrusted to serve in such a sensitive and important role as physician to three presidents over the past 12 years," Jackson said. "Going into this process, I expected tough questions about how to best care for our veterans, but I did not expect to have to dignify baseless and anonymous attacks on my character and integrity."Jackson said he was motivated to withdraw from consideration because the allegations against him "have become a distraction" for Trump and his agenda."Unfortunately, because of how Washington works, these false allegations have become a distraction for this President and the important issue we must be addressing -- how we give the best care to our nation's heroes," Jackson said. "While I will forever be grateful for the trust and confidence President Trump has placed in me by giving me this opportunity, I am regretfully withdrawing my nomination to be Secretary for the Department of Veterans Affairs."Speaking on "Fox & Friends" Thursday morning, Trump said Jackson's withdrawal was not unexpected."I even told him a day or two ago I saw where this was going," Trump told Fox News' "Fox & Friends" over the phone, later adding that "it's a disgrace."The President also said all the allegations against Jackson were false, saying the White House physician's opponents are "trying to destroy a man." 1813
