Thomas Magnum has lost his sidekick. John Hillerman, the actor who played Magnum P.I. sidekick Jonathan Higgins, died on Thursday at the age of 84. According to TMZ, he died at his home in Houston. The cause of his death is unknown. Hillerman's portrayal of Higgins was plotted as a foil for the title character in Magnum P.I., which ran for eight seasons on CBS. Hillerman won an Emmy Award in 1987 for his performance. Besides his role on Magnum P.I., Hillerman appeared in nearly two dozen feature films, and even more television shows. (KGTV) - The Massachusetts Institute of Technology just named a minor planet after a San Diego teenager who recently completed research that could assist in future droughts. The Cambridge School freshman Emily Tianshi was also awarded ,000 from here work in the prestigious National Broadcam MASTERS Competition in Washington, D.C.  “I was absolutely shocked,” said the 14-year-old.Tainshi began studying the needles on Torrey Pines as an eighth grader to see how the trees continue to withstand droughts.  She said the needles are uniquely designed to pull moisture from the air and condense it into water for its own needs.Her research won science fairs in San Diego and California.  It earned her an invitation to the weeklong Broadcom MASTERS where she competed with and against students from all over the nation.Tianshi walked away with the second largest prize in the country.She said she wants to continue her research and eventually “turn into an engineering project where I build a device replicating the Torrey Pine Needle.”The teenager said her ultimate goal is to become a Stanford-educated doctor. 1162

TRENTON, N.J. – New Jersey has become the first state in the nation to incorporate climate change education across its K-12 learning standards. The state’s first lady, Tammy Murphy, announced Wednesday that the state’s board of education has adopted her initiative. With this adoption, climate change education will be incorporated across seven content areas—21st century life and careers, comprehensive health and physical education, science, social studies, technology, visual and performing arts, and world languages. Climate change standards have also been added to the appendices of the mathematics and English language arts guidelines, which are up for review in 2022.“In New Jersey, we have already begun to experience the effects of climate change, from our disappearing shorelines, to harmful algal blooms in our lakes, super storms producing torrential rain, and summers that are blazing hot,” said first lady Murphy. “The adoption of these standards is much more than an added educational requirement; it is a symbol of a partnership between generations. Decades of short-sighted decision-making has fueled this crisis and now we must do all we can to help our children solve it. (KGTV) -- A man was arrested in Mexico Thursday after authorities found six different suitcases and bags containing human remains in Tijuana, according to ABC 10News partner Televisa. Early Thursday morning, legs were discovered in a suitcase in front of the Tijuana Cultural Center. Around the same time, another suitcase with body parts was found in front of a pharmacy. A head was later found in a different location in Tijuana, Televisa reports. RELATED: Tijuana ranked most dangerous city in the worldA man identified only as Jonathan “N” was detained in downtown Tijuana. He was carrying another suitcase with human remains. According to Televisa, more than 113 homicides have been reported in the last three weeks. So far this year, more than 1822 murders have taken place in Tijuana alone. 824
