UNITED NATIONS, March 18 (Xinhua) -- China on Thursday called upon the international community to render more support and provide more assistance to Afghanistan, and voiced its support for a leading coordination role by the United Nations in the reconstruction of the south Asian country.The appeal came as Li Baodong, the permanent Chinese representative to the United Nations, was speaking to a UN Security Council meeting on the current situation of Afghanistan.The international community must keep focused on Afghanistan, which is currently at a key transitional period, and increase support and assistance to enhance Afghan sovereignty and capacity for development, Li said.The international community should also step up the efforts to assist the country in strengthening its military and police forces, promoting the process of national reconciliation in the nation, he said.He said that China supports the leading coordination role played by the United Nations in helping Afghanistan in its reconstruction process.China had actively supported and participated in Afghanistan's peaceful reconstruction, he said, adding that China will continue to provide assistance to Afghanistan within its capacity.China had invited Afghan President Hamid Karzai to visit China on March 21-25, Li said, adding that he is confident that visit will achieve positive results.

We have cordial and friendly relations," Moni said.Briefing reporters on the visit, Moni said that after the new government assumed power in January 2009, the Chinese government sent a special representative to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and expressed strong desire to work together.Moni said Bangladesh also wants to strengthen bilateral ties and cooperation with China .On the sidelines of the world climate change conference in Copenhagen last year, Hasina had meeting with Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and discussed bilateral issues of mutual interest.The foreign minister said apart from Sheikh Hasina's visit, a number of cultural exchange programs will take place this year marking the 35th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Dhaka and Beijing.

BEIJING, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- China Saturday issued a regulation on the implementation of the Audit Law, which required close audit to government-funded projects, to make sure financial funds were properly used.The regulation, issued by the State Council, or China's Cabinet, asked auditing offices to conduct follow-up audit to organizations or projects, which were funded or partly funded by government.The regulation was revised and passed at an executive meeting of the State Council on Feb. 2 and will become effective on May 1 this year.Under the regulation, audit authorities are entitled to launch special investigation into government departments or organizations on budget management or the management and utilization of state assets.To ensure accurate and impartial auditing, the regulation provides that organizations are entitled to apply for government adjudication, administrative review or lodge a lawsuit if they disagree with the audit results.The current Audit Law was amended and passed in February 2006 by the Standing Committee of the Tenth National People's Congress.
