SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- An outage caused by a mylar balloon briefly left 2,000 people without power in several San Diego neighborhoods Tuesday night. According to the San Diego Gas and Electric outage map, 1774 people in Old Town, Mission Hills and Hillcrest were affected by the outage. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A woman who shot through her neighbors’ apartment in Clairemont Mesa after they complained about noise was convicted Tuesday.Brittany Lefler, 37, is facing up to 36 years in prison after being convicted of assault with a semiautomatic firearm among other charges.The prosecutor in the case argued that Lefler was drinking and was “out of control” and “verbally abusive” when Erik Morales called police around 1 a.m. on December 29, 2016 at her apartment on Beadnell Way. RELATED: Topless standoff suspect pleads not guilty in courtMorales and her roommates told police Lefler kept banging on the wall and screaming inside her apartment. When officers arrived, Lefler wanted to know who called police on her. Morales’ 19-year-old son said that, at one point, he went outside and asked Lefler to “keep it down.”That’s when Lefler reached into her boot and pulled out what appeared to be a gun. "She (Lefler) said, `C'mon outside, I'll bust a cap in you,"' Henry Molina testified.Molina said he heard Lefler telling police she kept a gun for “things like this.” Deputy District Attorney Michael Reilly told the jury that around 5 a.m., Lefler pointed her gun at the people inside Morales’ apartment before pulling the trigger."She (Lefler) did it on purpose," the prosecutor said. "In a moment of anger and fury, she shot through that front door. Ms. Lefler sent a message with a bullet through that front door. She can't do that!"Deputy Alternate Public Defender Gilson Gray told the jury Lefler called 911 several times that night but police didn’t help her.Gray said Lefler was home alone, scared and outnumbered by her complaining neighbors. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- An eventual return to outdoor dining for some North Park restaurants may not be an option due to a City of San Diego project.Right now, some businesses on 30th Street have left their outdoor dining structures just as they were before the latest stay-at-home order. However, concerns have been raised as the city’s pipeline replacement project, which includes a bike lane expansion, moves into its final stages.In a virtual meeting, city officials presented a plan to the North Park Main Street Business board of directors, informing business owners of what will be required of them as part of this construction. This will include restriping the bike lanes in their section and putting signage up.Several area business owners, like David Gamboa, were not happy to hear the plans. Business owners believe the project will cost them their parklets and outdoor dining spaces.“Not only are businesses scratching for every penny they can right now. Now we’re going to ask them to take their staff, time, and take whatever little money they have and stripe the street themselves. It seems crazy to me. It’s a big ask,” Gamboa said.The business owners are asking the city to delay the striping of the bike lanes until businesses can fully reopen.Typically, the city would require businesses to hire an engineer who would design a traffic plan. 1363

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - An Encinitas family on vacation woke up to a disturbing alert last week, video of someone stealing multiple packages from their porch.Homeowner Mark Sandorf says the most peculiar thing was who the thief was."It’s different in that she looks like she’s probably someone’s grandma," said Sandorf.The family immediately filed a police report from New Mexico.10News blurred the woman's face because the San Diego Sheriff's Department has not yet said she's a wanted suspect.One of the packages had sentimental value, three custom holsters for Sandorf's son who is in law enforcement."My son is, like I said, risking his life out there every day and we try to keep him in good equipment and what not. These were custom made by a friend of mine in South Carolina," said Sandorf.Sandorf says the most frustrating thing is knowing the holsters will likely get thrown away.He hopes others in his Encinitas Ranch neighborhood will be on alert after the incident. 980

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Syrian refugee who took his Uber passenger across the U.S.-Mexico border into Tijuana was detained last week by Customs and Border Protection officers.Hussam Abdul Noor immigrated to San Diego one year ago and was in the process of applying for a green card to stay in the United States, according to his former coworker Wally Ghamraoui.Noor supported his wife and two children by working at a gas station in El Cajon. He had refugee employment authorization document. Two weeks ago, Noor began working as an Uber driver, Uber confirmed. Noor wanted the job because the pay was better, said Ghamraoui.RELATED: ICE releases UC San Diego student detained at border Last Wednesday, Noor took an Uber passenger across the border into Mexico. An Uber spokesperson said the passenger must have requested the trip because it is not possible to order a ride across the U.S.-Mexico border through the Uber app.Noor's wife woke up at 3 a.m. and noticed he wasn't home. "He sent her a What'sApp message that don't be afraid, I got held up at the border and I should be back home soon," family friend Nibras Maleh translated.When Noor tried to drive back into the U.S., he was detained at the border by customs officers. "I'm concerned," Ghamraoui said, tearing up, "I hope they don't deport him, he need to fix, to learn something from his mistake."Attorney Lilia Velasquez works in immigration law and said anyone with Noor’s immigration status is not allowed to leave the United States during the legal process. She believes it could take weeks for Noor to return, if the judge allows."You know they're suffering, but we do tell them, 'Why didn't you call the immigration service? Why didn't you make an appointment? Why didn't you call a lawyer?' One minute phone call, if the person would've called me, I would've said, 'It's a no no, do you have a travel document? No?
