(KGTV) -- Neighbors in Del Cerro say an intersection near their homes is a hot spot for accidents and speeding, with the latest incident occurring Monday night.The streets and intersection in question are Madra Avenue and Del Cerro Boulevard. Denisse Newell took cell phone video during the aftermath of Monday’s accident. Newell says she’s reached out to City of San Diego officials to ask that something be done to make drivers slow down.Another neighbor, Emily Broadwater, says she was involved in an accident at the intersection in 2018 after a man didn’t stop at the stop sign. Her minivan was totaled.Newell says her dog was also hit by a speeding car and survived the accident. Her husband has stopped walking their children to school after multiple close calls. Neighbors worry that the next time it’ll be a person. The women say they’d like the city to implement like speed bumps, a stoplight or roundabouts to get drivers to slow down.ABC 10News reached out to San Diego City Councilman Scott Sherman’s office, who represents the district. SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A ring-tailed lemur that was stolen from the San Francisco Zoo this week has been found.The 21-year-old male lemur named Maki was discovered missing shortly before the zoo opened to visitors on Wednesday. Investigators found evidence of a forced entry to the lemur enclosure.Someone called police Thursday evening to say that Maki was spotted in Daly City, a few miles south of the zoo.Police say the animal was found in the playground area of a church.Maki was found to be in good health and was transported back to the zoo.Detectives are still investigating the break-in.?? SAN DIEGO, Calif. (KGTV) - California Gov. Gavin Newsom said indoor operations must close in the state, so some businesses like gyms and restaurants are moving outside. For the beauty industry, there’s a divide. While Newsom and San Diego County officials said businesses can move outside, the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology won’t allow it.Bahar Radman is a stylist at Del Beauty Box and said she already started cutting hair in her salon’s parking lot. She said it works because there is more space to spread out, there is better airflow, she already has the cosmetology training on best hygiene practices, and she’s also taking coronavirus safety precautions, like keeping a mask on the whole time. She said of her first three outdoor clients, all were happy with the setup and already booked return appointments.This goes against the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology rules, though. In a statement, a spokesperson from the Department of Consumer Affairs said, “The Board of Barbering and Cosmetology understands the effect shutdowns have on businesses and is sensitive to that. SAN DIEGO (KGTV)- San Diego State University held an inauguration for their new president. Dr. Adela de la Torre is the ninth president for SDSU but the first female president. She was appointed in 2018. During her speech she said, “I know I stand here as first woman to serve as permanent president to lead this university, but I recognize that I stand on the shoulders of women who have shaped the identity of SDSU from the very beginning”. Looking at the coming years, she says there is critical work that needs to be done. SAN FRANCISCO (AP and KGTV) — California's state auditor says the California State University system kept .5 billion in discretionary reserves while raising tuition at its 23 campuses and lobbying the Legislature for more funds.Auditor Elaine Howle says in a report released Thursday that CSU put the money, which came primarily from student tuition, in outside accounts rather than in the state treasury.It says CSU accumulated the surplus from 2008 to 2018. That is during the same time it nearly doubled student tuition. CSU did not fully inform legislators and students about its surplus.CSU Chancellor Timothy White said in a statement the report is misleading.
