(KGTV) -- A family of out-of-state vacationers was displaced after a dryer in the home they were renting caught fire.Firefighters were called to the home, located on the 1000 block of South Pacific Street, shortly after midnight Sunday.After arriving, firefighters discovered that a clothes dryer near a downstairs bedroom of the home was on fire.Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the flames, but not before a woman in her 60s suffered smoke inhalation.Crews say seven adults and none children staying in the two-unit home were displaced by the fire.Firefighters from Camp Pendleton, Vista and Carlsbad assisted. "Currently, Oceanside imports the majority of our water from Northern California or the Colorado River, so that comes from hundreds of miles away, and takes a lot of energy to transport. Also, the cost of that continues to increase," said Davis. Officials with the Texas Animal Health Commission say a 2-year-old dog in Texas is the first animal in the state to be infected with the virus that causes the coronavirus in humans.In a news release, the officials with the health commission said the Tarrant County dog was tested by a veterinary as a precaution after its owners had the virus.“Based on current knowledge, there is no evidence that pets play a significant role in spreading SARS-CoV-2 to people,” said Dr. Andy Schwartz, State Veterinarian in the release. “It’s always important to restrict contact with your pets and other animals, just like you would other people if you are infected with COVID-19 in order to protect them from infection.”The veterinary says the dog is healthy.There are now 12 other animals in the United States that have tested positive for the virus, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service.Officials say routine testing of animals is not recommended at this time. 1011

OCEANSIDE (CNS) - A pedestrian was hit and killed while crossing an Oceanside highway late Saturday night, police said.The crash was reported to police shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of state Route 76 and Douglas Drive, according to Oceanside police Sgt. Rick Davis.Officers found a man lying unresponsive in eastbound lanes of Route 76.Davis said according to witness statements and evidence at the crash scene, investigators believe the pedestrian was crossing Route 76 from north to south against a red light, and was hit by a car heading east on the highway with a green light.The driver, who was not injured, immediately stopped and waited for police to arrive, Davis said. Police did not suspect alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.The name of the victim was not immediately released. 826

On Monday, McDonald's announced that they are developing a new plant-based burger, which they've coined the McPlant.They also are launching a new Crispy Chicken Sandwich in early 2021.In a blog post, the company said it would be testing a meat-free burger in several markets next year.
