SAN DIEGO (KGTV): Wall Street set a record last week for the longest "Bull" run in US Stock Market history, topping 3,400 days of growth. Now, financial experts are saying it won't last forever and advising clients to prepare for a downturn."You have to expect at some point, we're due," says Dennis Brewster of SagePoint Financial. "I think everybody's almost forgotten, look at earlier in the year, how sharp the markets broke back in February. So it wouldn't be unusual to see any of those declines coming up later this year or early next year."Brewster says he doesn't expect anything as drastic as 2008, but he still says investors should take a few steps to safeguard their earnings and even make the downturn work in your favor.A lot of it, he says, depends on how close you are to retirement."When you look at the year to year returns, they're all over the board. When you look at the 20-30 year returns they're very close," says Brewster. "If you're younger and have 20-30 year horizons, the day to day gyrations are almost noise to you. But if you're getting closer to retirement or in retirement, then you have to be more careful."'Brewster looked up numbers from the S&P 500 for the last 20 years. He says someone who invested ,000 in 1998 would have lost about ,300 after the crash in 2008. SAN DIEGO (KGTV)- The DMV is apologizing for long wait times as they work through a new queuing system and problems with the REAL ID.Wait times (without an appointment) used to be under two hours, now they're closer to 4-5 hours. The DMV issued this statement to 10News:The issue is employees have to manually enter the ID number given to each customer, since a new system went online two weeks ago. The ID number consists of your initials and the last four digits of your phone number.The process prior was completely automatic.The other issue relates to the REAL ID. Employees are taking more time to explain to customers what they need to have in order to get the ID. SAN DIEGO (KGTV)-- With the increase in park usage since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, San Diego Park Rangers are noticing a slight increase in vandalism at city parks and trails.On a scale of one to ten, hiking up Cowles Mountain was a bit of a challenge."For me, an eight," six-year-old Joaquin Santaruse said.He, his brother, and two buddies zig-zagged up San Diego's highest peak Wednesday to get away."It's fun to be in nature sometimes," older brother Mateo Santaruse said. "It's a great view up there, and there's a bunch of cool rocks, and in fact, we found a pink one."Many people have noticed and posted about an uptick in graffiti at parks and trails across the nation. Zion National Park published a post on their Facebook page, showcasing the recent vandalism incidents. In it, they are pleaded with people not to disrupt nature during their visit."We just saw that it was painted all pink, and we were like, 'Wow, look at that rock!'" Mateo said.But that awe turned into a little disappointment for the young boys."The chemicals in the spray paint," friend Aaron Heredia said."The animals can try to lick on it and stuff, and then it's toxic," Mateo followed.Tim Graham with the city of San Diego, says graffiti has both environmental and financial impacts. He sent ABC 10News a statement reading,"Because of the location and size of some of the rocks, park rangers are unable to remove the rocks or the paint safely. The City is looking into contracting with a qualified vendor that can safely remove and capture the paint from the rocks."This, unfortunately, becomes an unnecessary expense for taxpayers. (KGTV) -- If there’s a dangerous situation unfolding in San Diego the odds are crews with the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department are on-scene.Team 10 discovered the number of responses crews make across the City of San Diego are up by tens of thousands from just a few years ago."What used to be a busy station, looking at nine to 10 calls a day, now that's an average station,” said Chris Webber assistant chief over emergency operations. “A busy station is 15, 17, or more calls in a day.”Webber’s been with the department for more than two decades."The things that have changed, the complexity of the calls the quantity of calls and the technical expertise that it takes to manage the calls,” he said.With San Diego's booming downtown area, Team 10 wanted to know just how busy emergency crews are.Team 10 looked at the number of San Diego Fire-Rescue department's responses dating back to 2014.Across the city, responses are up by thousands.In 2014 the numbers showed 153,110 responses across the city. In 2018 that number was up to 175,147. Total responses are down from 2017, but still show a significant increase from just a few years ago.According to the numbers, the stations with the most responses are in the downtown, Lincoln Park and Valencia Park areas. Although, fire crew members say you can’t discount the number of responses made in the South Bay and Center City areas.“EMS calls are the biggest load,” Webber said. “We're running 82 to 85 percent of the calls are EMS."Here's the proof, station four which serves the East Village and its surrounding areas had more than 6,000 responses for medical calls last year. 1657
