Usually, Friday the 13th has a bad connotation around it. But for the tattoo industry, it's an exciting day — it's known as the unofficial National Tattoo Day. Certified Tattoo Studios in Denver has been hosting a Friday the 13th event for over 10 years. A line of people were waiting outside their doors ahead of the shop opening. Ruth came with her daughter Alana to get her first tattoo. Ruth said she never wanted one until her daughter talked her into getting matching ones. "I'm planning on getting one and done," Ruth said. "It's just a great way for us to give back to our community and offer a cheaper rate for a tattoo that might normally cost a lot more," Certified Tattoos Studios owner Nando Mondragon said. Tattoos can be expensive. But Certified Tattoos Studios is doing them for less than . The studio gives customers the sheets of small "flash" tattoos to choose from. Ruth and her daughter chose matching heart tattoos to place on their wrist. Because the tattoos are so small, they take less than 10 minutes. Ruth can now say she has a tattoo. "I love it. It's perfect," she said. It's good she likes it, because it's permanent. 1163

Thousands, if not millions, of employees have suddenly found themselves without work this week as businesses are scaling back operations amid the spread of coronavirus. As states are ordering non-essential employees to stay away from their jobs, unemployment is skyrocketing nationally. For instance, in Ohio, the state went from 5,000 unemployment claims last week to 140,000 claims this week. But as some industries dwindle, others are in need of help. Here are a few: 7-Eleven Convenience store 7-Eleven said it is actively seeking to fill 20,000 positions amid a rush to clear store shelves. 7-Eleven said it expects to encounter a rush of orders through its mobile app, and are looking for store clerks to help fulfill delivery orders. "7-Eleven is a neighborhood store and it's our priority to serve the communities in which we operate during this unprecedented crisis," said 7-Eleven President and Chief Executive Officer Joe DePinto. "Between 7-Eleven, Inc. and our franchised business owners, we expect as many as 20,000 store employees to be hired in the coming months. This will provide job opportunities and ensure 7-Eleven stores remain clean and in-stock with the goods our customers need during this critical time." To apply with 7-Eleven, click 1276

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The governor of Minnesota has called for order to be restored in the state amid violent protests over the death George Floyd. During a Friday press conference, Gov. Tim Walz and other state leaders addressed the public safety concerns the Twin Cities are facing as protesters take to the streets demanding justice for Floyd’s death. “We have to restore order to our society before we can address the issues,” said Walz.Watch the press conference below: Floyd was arrested Monday after a grocery store employee called the police to report someone trying to pass a counterfeit bill. A 10-minute video of Floyd’s arrest soon circulated online. The video shot by a bystander shows a Minneapolis police officer pressing his knee on Floyd’s neck while the man gasps for air with his face against the pavement. Floyd then lost consciousness and was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Four officers involved in Floyd’s death were fired Tuesday by the Minneapolis Police Department. And on Friday, the former officer who knelt on Floyd's neck was charged with murder and manslaughter. Walz said it is his expectation the justice for the officers involved in Floyd’s death “will be swift” and “fair.” And, Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison echoed the governor’s call for “swift” justice. “I believe that the message has been sent and received that the wheels of justice turn swiftly,” said Ellison. “No unjustly, expeditiously, thoroughly, fairly, but swiftly.” For the past three nights, protesters angered by Floyd’s death have grown increasingly violent. Thursday, demonstrators torched one of the city’s police stations that the department had abandoned. Fires burned Friday morning in Minneapolis and nearby St. Paul. Minnesota National Guard members were being stationed in locations to help stem looting. Gen. Jon Jensen of the National Guard said Friday that he was made aware of a “credible threat” against his men and women, which led him to arm his forces, with the governor’s approval. “Our guardsmen maintain the right to self-defense,” said Jensen, without elaborating on the threat.John Harrington, Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, says arrests were made overnight for burglary and arson, but he couldn’t provide the number of arrests at the time.Walz said he understands that trust in police has been lost by many, but the looting and recklessness that has taken place this week cannot continue. "The situation on the ground doesn't allow us, at this time, to tackle those issues," said Walz. "The very assets in our community, our library, our businesses, those non-profits and government-entities, the light-rail system, are all shut down from this. We have to restore order to our society before we can start addressing the issues. Before we turn back to where we should be spending our energy, making sure that justice is served, justice is served swiftly, that we learn something from what George Floyd gave on Monday." Also on Friday, the governor issued a public apology for the arrest of CNN reporter Omar Jimenez, as well as his producer and his photojournalist. “I take full responsibility. There’s no reason that should ever happen,” said Walz. “The protection and security and safety of the journalists covering this is a top priority...because it is a key component of how we fix this.” 3395

A Florida woman is facing attempted murder charges after police say she told her four children to unbuckle their seat belts and then purposefully drove a minivan into a tree yesterday.Calicia Williams and the children, who are between 7 and 13 years old, were all injured in the crash, Ocala police said in a release.Williams was speeding and told the children to take off their seat belts and stretch out their hands before the crash, according to the release."The devil can't hurt you, he only hurts bad people," Williams said just before the crash, according to the police report, which cited a witness whose name was redacted. "You have the light of Jesus in you and only Jesus can cure us," according to the police report.Williams was standing outside of the van when police arrived. She told an officer that her husband had put a hex on her and caused her to crash, and she "kept rambling on about spells and voodoo," according to the police report.Williams also told police that she had "marijuana in her system," the report said."(D)ue to tire and furrow marks in the median it appeared the Pontiac was steering directly toward the tree that was struck," the investigator at the site reported, according to the release.Williams and the four children were transported to local hospitals. The children are in stable condition, a police spokesperson told CNN.The children's injuries were not life-threatening, 1427
