(KGTV) — Police are searching for the person responsible for stabbing a man during a reported fight in Chula Vista.Police said they were called Wednesday just after 1:30 a.m. over a reported fight in the 500 block of Flower Street and that someone had been injured.Chula Vista Police arrived to find a Hispanic man in his 20s unresponsive with a stab wound on his upper body.The man was treated at the scene, but died of his injuries. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.No suspect was in custody Wednesday and police could not offer a possible description.Chula Vista Police Homicide Detectives were investigation the stabbing and ask anyone with information to call 619-691-5074. 732

CHULA VISTA, Calif., (KGTV) -- Following in the footsteps of neighboring San Diego, the City of Chula Vista launched a one-year e-scooter pilot program Sunday. Lime representatives held a "first ride" event at Discovery Park, introducing Chula Vista residents to the scooters. The event included safety training and an obstacle course where participants could practice using the scooters to get a free helmet.The city says the pilot program will allow Lime to stage 500 e-scooters at popular locations across Chula Vista for the first month. If all goes well, Lime can add 200 e-scooters every month after that.Some love the convenience. Others say they have seen too many problems in San Diego to support them. "They need to have parking areas for these things and designated legislation for helmets if they're going to have these things out there," said Daryll Coleman, a 12-year resident of Chula Vista. "That's my opinion. Should they be out here? I don't think so." This comes just two months after the City of San Diego notified Lime that it was revoking the scooter company's operating permit. He just qualified for the June run-off to become the Mayor of Chula Vista, the county's second largest city.In an interview, Gastelum said he isn't backing down from his prior controversial comments. "How can you not condemn rape? How can you not condemn pedophilia? Or throwing gays from the roof," Gastelum said, clarifying he is not referring to all Muslims. "If people don't like what I stand for, they can vote for the person that's going to take more taxes from them."Hanif Mohebi, who runs the San Diego chapter of the Council of American Islamic Relations, called Gastelum's comments bigoted and hateful."Are we referring to other criminals by their religion?" he said. "(Charleston church shooter) Dylan Roof and many others. Are we referring to others by their religion? According to police, the stabbing took place on January 31 on the 900 block of Maria Way in Chula Vista. Police say an argument broke out between two teenagers. The argument later turned physical and, as the 15-year-old -- identified by friends as Devin Griffiths -- tried to help a friend being attacked by several men, he was stabbed in the upper body, according to police. According to police, he “passed away with his family at his side.”Police say the suspect group is believed to consist of eight to 15 men and women between the ages of 17 and 20. The group is seen casually walking the grounds of the park then skateboarding on water slides, including the six-story funnel ride Tassie's Twister.The 19-second video appeared on the social media app TikTok on May 19 and has been viewed more than 1.1 million times.10News showed the video to Aquatica, who confirmed there have been trespassing incidents recently. The park added that they have notified police and trespassers will face consequences."While Aquatica is temporarily closed because of COVID-19, the park is monitored 24/7. Our security team has caught trespassers in the park and notified the Chula Vista Police Department. Citations have been issued because trespassing is a misdemeanor crime.
