(KGTV) - Hundreds gathered at a park in San Ysidro in support of the migrant caravan just hours before border officials closed the border.A group called the San Diego Migrant and Refugee Coalition organized the Sunday rally that eventually turned into a march. About 600 people joined the coalition which is made up of 20 migrant support and social justice groups. The organizers say they disagree with the militarization of the border and want the migrants to know they are loved and welcome. The march ended peacefully at the San Ysidro Port of Entry.  606

(KGTV) - A report of another car found burning in a driveway is raising questions about a possible fire starter targeting vehicles in Santee.On Shaggybark Drive, Michelle Genshaw and her husband were pulling out of their home two weeks ago -- just before 4:30 in the morning -- when they saw flames in their neighbor's driveway.  A 2007 Acura TL was on fire."It looked odd because there were flames coming out of the front and back of the car, like two separates fires," said Genshaw.Genshaw's husband banged on the door, waking the Arnold family.  Together, they put the fire out with a hose a few minutes later.  Catherine Arnold is thankful the fire didn't spread, but she tells us the car is a total loss."It's really upsetting.  It was my father's car and he passed away and it was the last thing belonging to my dad that I had," said Arnold.Sheriff's investigators were called out and concluded it was arson."We talked to police and they said they smelled gas," said Genshaw.A week and a half later, car alarms sounded along with a Mother's Day inferno on Pearlwood Road.  Neighbors discovered a newly purchased Ford Mustang convertible torched in a driveway.  Mason jars with a flammable liquid were found near the gas tank. (CNS) - Twin brothers popular on YouTube for videos featuring pranks were charged Wednesday with masquerading as bank robbers, prompting emergency calls to Irvine police.Alan and Alex Stokes of Irvine, both 23, were each charged with a felony count of false imprisonment and a misdemeanor count of false reporting an emergency.The two are accused of pulling off the pranks with a videographer on Oct. 15.At about 2:30 p.m. that day, the twins dressed in black with ski masks and carried duffle bags stuffed with cash, masquerading as bank robbers, according to Kimberly Edds, a spokeswoman for the Orange County District Attorney's Office.With the camera operator in tow, they called for an Uber ride, but the driver refused service, Edds said.A witness believing the pair had robbed a bank and were carjacking the Uber driver called the police, Edds said. Responding officers ordered the driver out at gunpoint, but when they eventually sorted out what happened they let the brothers go with a warning, Edds said.Four hours later, the twins did the same thing on campus at UC Irvine, which prompted emergency calls again, Edds said.A court date has not yet been scheduled and it was unknown if the duo had legal representation. 1254

SANTEE — A group of Santee residents trying to gather enough signatures to force a public vote on the recently approved Fanita Ranch development say they are facing intimidation from the developer.Meanwhile, the developer says the signature gatherers are the ones acting unethically.The Santee group, called Preserve Wild Santee, has until election day to gather signatures from 3,500 registered city voters to force the Santee City Council to either rescind approval of the development, or send it to a public vote.On Sept. 23, the council voted 4-1 to approve the project, which calls for roughly 3,000 new homes, 80,000 square-feet of retail space, a school, a farm and public trails. Proponents say the project would provide homes to help with the county's severe housing crisis, while opponents say it would create too much traffic and increase wildfire danger.The homes would start in the 0,000s and could be available as soon as mid-2022."We're for reasonable growth and in the right places and in the right locations, not in an extreme fire hazard location," said Santee resident Janet Garvin, one of the signature gatherers.Garvin said, however, that people who come to sign the forms are being heckled by a project supportes, funded by developer HomeFed. On Monday, Santee Councilman Stephen Houlahan, the lone no-vote on the project, confronted HomeFed's workers on camera at a strip mall."It seemed like a very, very strong coincidence that there was two women volunteering here, and they were surrounded by three men in a very intimidating posture," he said.Houlahan also said the HomeFed workers have also promised to follow signature gatherers across Santee to try to stop them from getting more supporters.But Jeff O'Connor, vice president of HomeFed, stood by the workers. He said they have been respectful, and are there to correct misinformation he says the signature gatherers about the project - namely about the improvements promised to Highway 52, and when it comes to tax increases. While there could be a Melo Roos fee on homeowners, O'Connor said there will be no tax increase on the general Santee population."They're being professional, they're getting the facts out, they're being courteous," he said. SAN FRANCISCO (KGTV) -- The US Coast Guard in San Francisco said Tuesday rescued a man they say was bitten by a shark.According to the Coast Guard, the incident happened near the Farallon Islands. Authorities has to hoist the man into a helicopter after they say he was bitten on the hand or the wrist.At this time, it’s unknown what kind of shark attacked the man. 378
