(KGTV) — Firefighters made short work of a fire that tore through a Vista home and set nearby vegetation ablaze Saturday evening.Vista Fire Department responded to reports of a fire in the area of Robelini Drive and El Valle Opulento just before 7 p.m. Firefighters arrived to find a brush fire extending into a home at 110 El Valle Opulento.As firefighters battled back the brush fire, other fire crews tackled flames shooting our of the home. Firefighters say that because of the "rapidly deteriorating conditions inside the home," crews were forced to get out of the home and fire the fire from outside.The fire was fully extinguished within about an hour, VFD said. One person was displaced from the home. No injuries were reported. It's not clear how the fire began. The fire is currently under investigation.Firefighters reminded homeowners to have working smoke alarms in their home and clear vegetation away from any structure. 957

VISTA, Calif. – A man was arrested Monday after authorities say he stabbed his wife and daughter inside their Vista home. The incident happened Sunday night just before 8 p.m. on the 1000 block of Corvalla Drive.According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, during a fight with his wife and daughter, 55-year-old Juventino Vazquez grabbed a knife from a closet.Following a struggle, Vazquez reportedly stabbed both his wife and daughter several times before leaving the home.Both victims were taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Vazquez was arrested Monday afternoon after a witness reported a suspicious person on the 900 block of Barsby Street.He was booked into jail for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and violating a domestic violence restraining order with injuries. 831

Walmart and Target are being sued for allegedly selling toys with lead levels up to 10 times more than the federal limit of 100 parts per million, New York Attorney General Barbara D. Underwood announced on Thursday. According to a statement released by Underwood's office, the AG's office was able to find Cra-Z-Jewelz jewelry-making kits from stores. The kits allegedly contained lead at levels of 120 to 980 parts per million. The Attorney General's office had further independent testing done to confirm the results. The toy's maker, LaRose Industries, which is also a plaintiff in the New York lawsuit, issued a national recall. Underwood's office is accusing Walmart, Target and LaRose of "repeated illegality and fraud under New York State law by committing thousands of violations of state law prohibitions on importing, distributing, and selling hazardous toys; deceiving consumers; and false advertising."Underwood's office is seeking civil penalties of  to ,000 for each Cra-Z-Jewelz kit the companies sought to sell in the state.“No parent should have to worry that their child’s toy may be toxic. As we allege, these companies imported and sold toys with dangerous levels of toxic lead – jeopardizing the health of New York’s children and breaking the law,” Underwood said in a statement. “Our lawsuit seeks to hold these companies accountable for the failures that allowed lead-contaminated toys on store shelves, while forcing them to take responsibility for the safety of the products they sell.”The suit also seeks to force the companies to adhere to higher quality control standards to prevent toys with high lead levels from being purchased. The CDC says that lead in children's blood has been shown to affect IQ, ability to pay attention, and academic achievement. The case against Kevin Clinesmith is likely to be cheered by President Donald Trump and his supporters who've alleged wrongdoing in the FBI’s investigation into whether Trump’s campaign coordinated with Russia. A watchdog report accused Clinesmith of altering an email to say former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page was not a source for another government agency. “The fact is they spied on my campaign and they got caught,” Trump said at the White House on Friday.But the five-page charging document is limited in scope and does not allege criminal wrongdoing by anyone other than Clinesmith, nor does it offer evidence to support Trump’s assertions that the Russia probe was tainted by widespread political bias in the FBI. It does make clear that the FBI relied on Clinesmith’s own misrepresentations as it sought to renew its surveillance of former Trump campaign aide Carter Page.Page has said he was. VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - Neighbors in the 700 block of Lemon Avenue in Vista say they were stunned as they watched a landlord pull out a pistol and start shooting at his tenant.Neighbors tell 10News there have been screaming matches at the home in the past. They say the landlord had been trying to evict a tenant who was living in the garage. The neighbors did not wish to share their names out of fear for their family's safety.The watch commander said they received a 9-1-1 call around 6 p.m. when the first shot was fired. Deputies arrived and investigated, then left when they couldn't find the landlord.Around 7:50 p.m. the landlord returned and, according to the watch commander, fired several shots at the tenant.Neighbors said it sounded like fireworks. They said they saw the landlord cocking his pistol, they believed it jammed.A video provided to 10News by neighbors shows deputies with rifles drawn approaching the home.They arrested the landlord and his associate.Details on the man, the associate, the tenant and the charges are not currently known. 1070
