SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego County announced Wednesday if the county continues to hit state triggers with the spread of the coronavirus, museums, zoos and aquariums could be on the long list of closures Monday.The measures apply to any indoor activities.Balboa Park just reopened the Air and Space Museum two weeks ago, after everything closed down in March due to the pandemic."We want to make sure people come back to the park, it is the cultural heart of San Diego," Executive Director of the Balboa Park Cultural Partnership Peter Comiskey said.Comiskey said this weekend more of our favorite museums are set to open. Friday the Science Center, the Veterans Museum, the Natural History Museum and the International Gift Shop are set to reopen, with three more museums opening Saturday July 4.The possibility those openings could be short-lived is something Comiskey says they're ready for."We're certainly hoping all the people of San Diego County are really able to pull together and make sure the infection rate and the case load and all these lovely metrics, these important metrics can be contained and can be controlled," he said hopefully.Comiskey said if they have to close Monday after putting so many precautions and time in to ensure the park is safe, they will.Looking to the future, he said they're brainstorming how to bring in money to help these cherished icons survive."I think as time goes on we need to look at what fund-raising is possible, I think we need to look with those organizations that rely on revenue through the gate." SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Renters in the city of San Diego will have one final day to apply for emergency financial assistance.The deadline to apply for the city’s one-time program, which provides up to ,000 per household, is Friday, Aug. 7.Families with past due or upcoming rent payments are eligible, and payments for those who are selected are expected to be distributed in the next few weeks.Each household has to provide documentation to prove they are not currently receiving any rental subsidies. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police are investigating after a 16-year-old was shot and killed in Lincoln Park Saturday night.Police responded to the 4900 block of Magnus Way around 10:20 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire.When they arrived, officers found the teen in a driveway with a single gunshot wound. The 16-year-old was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead, police say. Police say the teen has been identified, but his name isn’t being released at this time. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Residents in San Ysidro and Tijuana are fearful of what will come next after hundreds of migrants rushed the border Sunday in a show of force.Commuters told 10News they fear that they won’t be able to get across a bridge in San Ysidro to work or cross over to see family.In Mexico, residents say they’re fed up with the flood of migrants. “Deport them back to where they are, let them over here. They need to get out of Tijuana because it's just crazy for us,” said Candace Sanchez, a Tijuana resident.On the US side, those with family south of the border are concerned with what the future holds. “It worries me that the border might get closed. I mean it's like uh what's going on? We've never really seen this before,” said Victor Juarez.Employees who depend on their jobs in the US are also frightened. “Kinda scary because you know, I mean, every day we just know that we have to do what we have to do every day just to survive,” said Dana Aviles.Many people missed a day of work due to Sunday’s border closure, taking a toll with the holiday gift-giving season approaching. “I just hope they get out of here in Tijuana and let our lives be normal again, you know,” added Sanchez. 1213

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police are asking for the public’s help finding a man who went missing early in the day Wednesday. According to police, 77-year-old David McArthur left his home on the 7900 block of Wing Span Drive around 10 a.m. to work on his boat at The Southwestern Yacht Club. He was last seen walking toward his vehicle in the parking lot of the yacht club, according to a family friend. McArthur was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s six years ago. McArthur is described as a white man, 77-years-old who is bald with grey hair on the sides and a thin build. Police say he also wears a yellow metal wedding ring and black band digital watch on his left wrist. McArthur is from New Zealand and speaks with a slight accent.
