SAN DIEGO — President Donald Trump is scheduled to visit San Diego on Tuesday to speak with military officials — and likely catch a glimpse at samples for his long-promised border wall.Trump has not visited California since he was sworn into office. Since then, he has criticized the state's enforcement of federal immigration laws and "sanctuary state" policies. The visit has been rumored for some time now and occurs a week after Attorney General Jeff Sessions visited Sacramento to announce a lawsuit against the state over immigration policies.Governor Jerry Brown said the lawsuit was the Trump administration's way of "going to war against the state of California."Here's what to expect:WHEN AND WHERE...President Trump is expected to fly to MCAS Miramar before heading to Otay Mesa on Tuesday, March 13.WHAT...While at MCAS Miramar, President Trump is set to speak with Marines. In Otay Mesa, Trump will likely tour the eight constructed border wall prototypes for his long-promised border wall. It's not clear whether the president will meet with Governor Jerry Brown, who sent a letter inviting Trump to the Central Valley to tour California's High-Speed Rail line under construction.PROTESTS...Demonstrators in support of and against the border wall are expected to gather in the allowed zones around the Otay Mesa prototype zone.A list of items will be prohibited by likely demonstrators during the presidential visit in Otay Mesa, including any object that could be used as a weapon. Sheriff's deputies will make anyone in possession of those items return them to their vehicles or dispose of them prior to entering the restricted area.An anti-wall rally is also scheduled to be held near the IRS federal building in downtown San Diego Tuesday. 1798

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A class-action lawsuit has been filed against Legoland and its parent company for allegedly not providing refunds after the Carlsbad theme park was closed to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The suit was filed Monday in San Diego federal court on behalf of Los Angeles County resident Joyce Case against Merlin Entertainments Limited, which operates Legoland, Tussauds Hollywood, Tussauds San Francisco, the San Francisco Dungeon and Legoland Florida. The suit alleges Case purchased tickets to Legoland for a March 21 trip and ended up "one of the many consumers stuck with tickets to a canceled event who has been unable to obtain a refund," according to the complaint.Legoland representatives could not immediately be reached for comment.RELATED:San Diego Zoo hopes to reopen in 'coming weeks' under new limitsSan Diego cleared to reopen zoos, gyms, bars and wineries, day campsSan Diego theme parks aim for July 1 reopeningThe suit seeks refunds for all customers who paid for tickets, memberships and vacation packages that have since been canceled due to COVID- 19, and damages to compensate customers "for the loss of use of their money during a time when cash is at a premium for the many families targeted by Defendants that are struggling to get by."The complaint states that the terms and conditions of agreements to purchase tickets to Legoland and other Merlin Entertainments Parks hold that if events are canceled, refunds must be paid."Closing of these venues, and cancellation of these events, should have meant that ticketholders were promptly refunded their money -- money that in many cases was very much needed for other purposes," the complaint states. "But that did not happen for customers, who bought tickets, memberships, and vacation packages for Defendants' attractions. Instead, Defendants failed to honor and perform their duties, responsibilities, and obligations under their uniform standardized agreements with their customers, thereby breaching their contracts, but nonetheless pocketed their customers' money and converted it for their own use."A similar class-action lawsuit was filed against SeaWorld last month in San Diego federal court. In that suit, SeaWorld is accused of continuing to charge monthly membership fees to customers during the park's closure. 2329

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A former Navy police officer who engaged in sexual acts with a 14-year-old Oceanside girl after convincing her on social media to send him sexually explicit photos, was sentenced 20 years in federal prison Monday.Isaiah Smallwood Jackson of Vista was convicted last fall of sexual exploitation of a minor and enticement of a minor after he convinced the girl to send him nude photos, then meet for sex outside her home. He was 21 at the time and is now 23.Following his prison term, Jackson will be on supervised released for 10 years and will be required to register as a sex offender, which will preclude him from initiating contact with minors, loitering in places primarily frequented by minors, or using the Internet unless the device can be monitored by U.S. probation officers.RELATED: Jury convicts man of using social media to convince 14-year old to have sex with himProsecutors say Jackson met the girl on an app called "Spotafriend." Her online profile indicated she was 14 years old, yet when she asked Jackson if it was bad that she still wanted to "cuddle" with him, he told her, "Not at all, is it bad that I don't care about your age?" according to court documents. The two continued talking over text messages, during which he attempted to persuade her to meet up with him for sex, despite her stating she was nervous and unsure if they should meet.Jackson responded by telling her, "Please I'm dying to see you."When she said, "I know it's hard to say yes because I only known you for 2 days over the phone," Jackson responded, "Take a leap of faith?" according to court documents.Eventually, he went to the girl's home, where they engaged in sexual acts outside the house. After he left, the victim told her sister, who contacted police. Oceanside police officers arrested Jackson four days later. 1841

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KGTV) — California’s Senate has approved a measure to increase the scrutiny of hunting licenses used in gun sales, prompted by last year’s fatal shooting at a Poway synagogue. Senate Bill 914, introduced by Democratic Sen. Anthony Portantino, would require gun stores and the state Department of Justice to both check the validity of hunting licenses during a waiting period after gun buyers purchase a weapon and before they pick it up. The bill will now head to the state Assembly.SB 914 comes after a 10News investigation uncovered that the 19-year-old shooting suspect bought the gun used in the attack at a shop in San Diego using an invalid hunting license. 10NEWS INVESTIGATIONS ON POWAY SHOOTING:New bill aims to correct error that allowed Poway suspect to buy gunQuestions about how the synagogue shooting suspect got the gunProcess to get a hunting license in CaliforniaThe suspect, 19 at the time of the shooting, used that invalid hunting license to claim an exemption to a state law that raised the minimum purchase age to 21.California's age limit law, a bill Portantino authored in 2018, kept the minimum purchase age at 18 for military, law enforcement, and those with valid state-issued hunting licenses."The system should have been better, and that's what we're coming to grips with," Portantino said in an interview with 10News reporter Jon Horn. "How do we make it better, so these things have protections so that it doesn't happen again?"The Associated Press contributed to this report. 1535
