BEIJING, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- China's tourism revenue rose 26.9 percent to 64.62 billion yuan (9.46 billion U.S. dollars) during the Spring Festival, the National Tourism Administration (NTA) said Sunday.China received 125 million tourists during the holiday period from Feb. 13 to 19, up 14.8 percent from the same period last year, a statement on the NTA website said.Of the tourism revenue, 4.6 billion yuan came from airlines while 2.83 billion yuan from railways. The tourists spent 26.51 billion yuan in China's 39 key tourism cities and 30.68 billion yuan in other areas.Among the tourists, 29.92 million stayed overnight and 95.13 million stayed for less than one day.

ADDIS ABABA, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- China will lose no time in implementing the "eight new measures" to strengthen China-Africa cooperation in the next three years, said China's Minister of Commerce Chen Deming on Tuesday. The fourth ministerial meeting of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation was held in the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh on Nov. 8-9. At the meeting, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao announced eight new measures the Chinese government will take to strengthen China-Africa cooperation in the next three years.     The success of the Sharm el-Sheikh meeting has opened a new page for China-Africa cooperation, Chen said during his talks with Erastus Mwencha, deputy chairperson of the Commission of the African Union (AU).     China will focus on improving African people's well-being, strengthening Africa's agriculture and infrastructure and expanding cooperation in human resources development, he said.     China will support Africa to increase its capacity for independent development, and join hands with Africa in tackling such challenges as the global financial crisis and climate change, in a bid to promote China-Africa friendly cooperation and Africa's economic and social development, said the Chinese minister.     Chen appreciated the AU's efforts to further Africa's integration process and develop China-Africa cooperation, saying China will continue to strengthen all-round cooperation with the AU, and support the AU to play a bigger role in regional and international affairs.     For his part, Mwencha said Africa and China respect each other and treat each other on an equal footing, adding that bilateral ties have stood the test of the time.     He believed the Sharm el-Sheikh meeting will further promote the development of cooperation between Africa and China.     China's eight new measures to enhance cooperation with Africa are consistent to Africa's practical needs, said the AU official.     Mwencha said the AU Commission is willing to play a bigger role in implementing the eight new measures and enhance dialogue between Africa and China.     Chen arrived here on Monday for a working visit, which will also take him to Mozambique and Tanzania.

"We should strive for the conclusion of the Doha round negotiations in 2010 to bring about comprehensive and balanced results. We also need to redouble the efforts of the WTO to promote aid for trade, and help developing countries strengthen capacity building.""Trade is a key driver for world economic recovery," he said. " Since the outbreak of the financial crisis, world trade has plummeted, and trade protectionism is on a visible increase. BEIJING, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- The Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), the world's largest lender by market value, said Monday it extended 110 billion yuan (16.1 billion U.S. dollars) of new loans in January, less than the amount in the same period of 2009."The lending growth in January was stable and moderate, which has well satisfied the real economic demand," the bank said.The ICBC statistics showed lendings of the bank totaled 117.1 billion yuan in January 2009.The bank said it would focus on financing ongoing government projects and continue to extend more loans to small businesses, while strictly controlling loans to new projects and high energy-consuming and polluting industries.ICBC last Wednesday said its loan growth in early and mid-January was "a little fast" as many ongoing projects needed funds, but the lending pace had stabilized since, as a concentrated volume of existing loans had come due and some credit card debts had been repaid.It also announced it would maintain a "reasonable and balanced" lending rate in a move to ease mounting public concerns about possible credit cuts.To prevent economic overheating, the government last month announced it would restrict its overall credit growth to 7.5 trillion yuan in 2010, compared with last year's 9.59 trillion yuan.However, a report from Monday's Economic Information Daily said that as of Jan. 29, Chinese banks had already extended nearly 1.6 trillion yuan new loans this year.

Besides 11 nuclear power units that are already in operation, there are 21 many units under construction with a combined installed capacity of 23 gigawatts.Taking the nuclear security as the top priority, Wu presented some suggestions addressing the increasing global demand of nuclear access."The security of nuclear energy is beyond borders, we should strive to shape a culture on safe use of nuclear power.
