An 8-year-old boy in Polk County, Florida caught an 11-foot, 3-inch gator late last month. It was his first real catch despite gator hunting several times with his dad.Grayson Chantley caught the gator on Lake Kissimmee late last month. He says his dad woke him up around midnight to go hunting. "Whenever they're big, I'm just like I want to get this gator," said Chantley.His dad caught it all on tape. Video shows the moment he landed the gator. Photos show the gator's head is almost the size of the 8-year-old. Chantley also showed off his catch to his older brother."I'm just shocked," added Chantley.Florida's state record for the largest gator caught happened in 2010 in Brevard County. The gator was 14 feet 3.5 inches, according to state wildlife officials.Grayson says he's still amazed."It teaches him how to survive. An unauthorized vehicle drove onto Travis Air Force Base in Northern California, crashed and erupted into flames, killing the driver, authorities said.There were no other fatalities in the security breach Wednesday night, the base said in a statement. It did not identify the driver, but said the car "gained unauthorized access" through the main gate."Travis AFB security forces immediately responded," the statement said. "Additionally, the base's explosive ordnance disposal team, office of special investigations and other responders were on scene."It's unclear whether the crash was deliberate. The Air Force and the FBI are investigating."The investigation is ongoing and there are no current known threats to the base or community," the base said. " The main gate has reopened and all other facilities are operating as normal."Travis Air Force Base is home to 10,000 military personnel, and a major hub for logistics and military cargo in the Pacific. It's the largest military aerial port in the US, and includes facilities for airlift and aerial refueling.The base is located in Solano County and is midway between Sacramento and San Francisco."The safety and welfare of our airmen, their families and our local community is our top priority," said Col. As a variant strain of the coronavirus spreads through the United Kingdom, Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease, said in an interview on ABC News on Tuesday that it’s possible the variant is in the US."That's certainly possible I mean, when you have this amount of spread within a place like the UK, that you really need to assume that it's here already, and certainly is not the dominant strain, but I would not be surprised at all if it is already here," said Fauci on ABC News.The variant strain has fueled lockdowns and fears in the UK. It also has prompted much of the world to cut off travel to the UK. Health officials fear that the variant strain spreads more easily.The United States has not cut travel between the two countries. Fauci does not expect that to be necessary.“That's not that's not really in the cards right now, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the requirement of testing is something that is being actively considered right now," Fauci said.The CDC reminded the public that viruses often mutate. The CDC added that it’s investigating why this version differs from the disease caused by other versions that are currently circulating.As travel remains permitted between the two nations, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo criticized officials for not cutting off travel.
