MIANYANG, Sichuan, 23 (Xinhua) -- Premier Wen Jiabao continued his second trip around the quake disaster zone on Friday, visiting surviving students in Mianyang, one of the worst-hit cities in the May 12 quake.     In a tent school, where more than 500 students from the destroyed Beichuan Middle School were studying, Wen encouraged them to study harder following the calamity.     "Let us not forget the earthquake," he told the students in a tender voice. "Then you will know what life is all about -- it is bumpy, as the roads are."     "Today, people save us and take good care of us. In the future, we will help them in return," the premier added.     "Trials and tribulations serve only to revitalize the nation," he wrote on the blackboard to encourage them. TIANJIN, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao has urged Tianjin Municipality in north China to step up opening and reform of its Binhai New Area.     Wen made the remark during his inspection tour in the coastal municipality on the sidelines of the 2008 Summer Davos Forum which was held here on Saturday and Sunday. In all, it is 2,270 square km and has a population of 1.4 million.     Lying between China's capital and the Bohai Gulf, the area has been decided by the State Council, or the Cabinet, to be one of the key economic powers in the country.     Taking an intercity high-speed railway shuttle from Beijing, the Premier asked the administrators of the shuttle line to provide a safe, fast and convenient service for people living in the two cities.     After arriving at the Binhai New Area, Premier Wen inspected some industry zones near the port. He was accompanied by Tianjin's Communist Party chief Zhang Gaoli.     Wen attended an opening ceremony for an assembly factory of the Airbus A320 model in the area.     "The Binhai New Area should take the advantages of various economic policies given by the central government and constantly improve its abilities of innovation and international competition," said the premier.     During his visit to the city, Wen also went to local households to convey his greetings of the National Day, which falls on Oct. 1.     When visiting a supermarket in the old community of Tianjin, Premier Wen asked the supermarket to ensure the quality of the products on sale.     He also went to a children's hospital where many parents sent their babies to have medical examinations in lieu of the toxic milk scandal.     The premier urged doctors in the hospital to carefully examine every child and to set parent's hearts to rest.

YINCHUAN, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- Delegates from China's central government presented a gift to Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region for the 50th anniversary of its founding.     At a ceremony held in the region's capital Yinchuan on Monday, senior official He Guoqiang delivered a Chinese Ding. That's a three-legged ancient cooking vessel, which represents solidification between Han and Hui nationalities.     The present has been signed by China's President Hu Jintao.     A delegation from the central government on Monday arrived in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region in northwest China, where most residents are muslims, to mark the anniversary.     He, head of the delegation and member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, together with the region's Party chief Chen Jianguo unveiled the present atthe square of Ningxia Museum. BEIJING, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- China's quality watchdog said here on Sunday that the latest tests on Chinese milk powder found no traces of melamine.     It was the fourth round of tests for the industrial chemical since the breaking of the tainted baby formula scandal that left at least three infants dead and sickened more than 50,000 others, according to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.     The tests covered 39 batches of baby formula from 10 brands in six provinces and 133 batches of other milk powder from 45 brands in 18 provinces, the agency said.     So far, 499 batches of baby formula from 53 brands and 709 batches of other milk powder from 142 brands produced after Sept. 14 have been tested and none contained melamine, it added.     Melamine, often used in the manufacturing of plastics, was added to sub-standard or diluted milk to make the protein levels appear higher.

BEIJING, May 19 (Xinhua) -- China on Monday began a three-day national mourning for the tens of thousands of people killed in a powerful earthquake which struck the country's southwest on May 12.     At 4:58 a.m., the national flag at the Tian'anmen Square in downtown Beijing flew at half-mast after a complete flag-raising ceremony.     About 2,600 people watched the flag-raising ceremony in the square.     "I have been watching TV to know the disaster situation these days," said Yu Huilin, a 58-year-old retired teacher. Yu just arrived in Beijing by bus in the early hours on Monday from eastern Shandong Province.     "It's really heartrending," she said. "But I see the quake-affected people have got help from so many people. I believe they can recover from the disaster soon rebuild their homes." Many other areas were also affected.     The search, rescue and disaster relief efforts are continuing. Some 113,080 Chinese soldiers and armed police have been mobilized to help with rescue operations.
