SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer and President Trump may have met in the Oval Office Tuesday, but their accounts of what was discussed differ.Faulconer visited the White House this week to discuss the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement and raise concerns over polluted water flowing in the Tijuana River Valley. Following the meeting, Faulconer confirmed the topics on Twitter, saying, "We talked about the pending #USMCA deal, California’s homeless crisis, and I also brought up sewage coming from the Tijuana River Valley – and encouraged more federal action to fix it."Though Wednesday night, the President told Fox News' Sean Hannity, another topic came up: "The wall."RELATED: Mayor Faulconer meets with President Trump to discuss issues facing San Diego“We just finished San Diego, as you know, San Diego, in California. "The President as an aside asked Mayor Faulconer what he thought about the border, and the Mayor’s response is that we welcome federal investment in our land ports of entry. Let’s invest instead on stopping sewage from the Tijuana River Valley.”The mayor's press secretary, Ashley Bailey, told City News Service Tuesday that immigration was not discussed between the two. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Harbor Police have cited a charter company for violating the county's health order. A sergeant for Harbor PD confirmed with 10News that Flagship Cruises and Events was cited for being in violation. The county health order states that recreational boating is allowed provided all occupants of a boat are from the same household.10News cameras were rolling as people walked onto the Flagship Cruises and Events dock and onto the company's Spirit of San Diego, capturing the boat's departure and arrival back into the bay. It is unclear if those boarding were all members of one family. 10News reached out to the company and a spokesperson sent us a picture of the county health order saying "We are stating we are part of section 14E, not C. That section states in part, "other public or private outdoor recreational facilities (other than community pools per State order), including recreational equipment (such as bicycle, boat, kayak, equestrian and surfboard) rentals may be open for limited use."Flagship's website states, "We are Open" and has several sections outlining how they are operating during the pandemic. One section states that masks are required for passengers and everyone must respect six-feet social distancing guidelines. The website also states that all employees will be in masks, gloves and screen upon arrival. Also adding that the company is limiting the number of passengers per cruise to allow for maximum distancing and that they've invested in new machinery to sanitize all chairs between cruises. Harbor Police says the citation for violating the county health order has a maximum fine of a thousand dollars and up to a year in jail. 1702

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Residents in one San Diego neighborhood have grown increasingly worried over reports of large boulders being left in the streets - in some cases, on top of vehicles.Golden Hill residents have reported the boulders appearing at 19th and Broadway, 26th and Broadway, Date Street, and the Golden Pacific Complex.At times, some of the boulders have been covered with cardboard or blankets."It's way too easy, with the way they're positioned, for someone to jump in their car like they do every day and take off and end up running over a giant boulder," said Benn Bruff.Bruff says a 25-pound boulder was placed in the wheel well of his girlfriend's car. Luckily they spotted it before she drove away. San Diego Police tell 10News the issue is very concerning. They are looking for more information and any description of the person responsible. Police says the person could face vandalism charges or obstruction of a roadway. If a driver were to hit a boulder and get in a serious accident the charges could be more severe. 10News reporter Amanda Brandeis spoke with a resident who knows the damage the rocks can cause first hand on 10News at 6 p.m.Councilman Chris Ward's office issued a statement to 10News, saying they are in contact with San Diego Police Department regarding the issue:"We were made aware of this issue by constituents over the weekend and share the concern for the safety of residents and car owners being impacted by this. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diegans are desperate for affordable housing and scammers are taking notice and using new tricks. 10News investigative reporter Jennifer Kastner spoke to the District Attorney's Office about how the internet is flooded right now with local rentals ads that are fake, and how renters can avoid getting burned.When Nicole Lloyd saw a Craigslist ad for a three-bedroom home in Clairemont for 50 a month, she jumped on it. “It sounded too good to be true, but [I had to] check it out,” she tells us.The person who said he was the owner sent her a text. “He said that he was out-of-state,” says Lloyd.He gave her a code for the front door and told her to let herself in. After she toured the property, he wanted her to wire him money through Western Union before he would prepare a lease.RELATED: Making It in San Diego: Study shows one-bedroom apartment rent in San Diego is cheaper than studio rentLloyd smelled a scam.“I probably see about three or four [rental scams] in a week,” explains San Diego County Deputy DA Brendan McHugh. McHugh says online rental scams are hugely prevalent right now, but most of the time scammers won't let renters see the property before asking for a wire transfer, which makes Lloyd's situation unique. The company confirmed that the house was being used in a scam.A statement from the company to 10News reads, “With regard to the home on Broadlawn Street, we have seen fraudulent activity, but fortunately no one has fallen victim to the attempted scam at this home. We have posted a sign in the home, as we do in all of our homes, alerting potential residents of potential scams so that they that will be particularly vigilant. We have asked Craigslist to remove the fraudulent listing, which they have (we do not advertise on Craigslist), and we have turned off the self-show option on the home so that prospective residents are able to view the home only if accompanied by an Invitation Homes agent.”“I was on Apartments.com, Zillow, Craigslist and a few other recommended [sites] that people gave me,” says Rebecca Weinrib.RELATED: San Diego's top neighborhoods to get more rental space for the moneyWeinrib admits that even she almost fell for online rental scams when she was recently looking for a place in Little Italy.“I went to law school. I run a company. I started a nonprofit…however, I don't remember seeing this situation two years ago when I was renting,” she adds.Weinrib was bombarded with requests to send money before she was allowed to see the properties. “A lot of them would say, ‘Wire it.’” She tells us a lot of them would also tell her that they don’t live locally.“You'll often see these scams saying that the person you need to talk to is deployed so just send the money and information now and we'll deal with it later,” says McHugh. He adds, “If you can't go inside and see the property before you're required to exchange money or personal identifying information, that's another huge red flag.”McHugh also says that it's best to be cautious when landlords are using auto-generated email addresses and when landlords post ads that contain several grammatical errors. 3405

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diegans posted images and updates about the fierce Valley Fire burning out of control in the Japatul Valley on Saturday night.Photos and videos shot from various locations around San Diego show a large ominous plume of smoke over the county. Others show videos of flames near the scene of the fire, and at least one local resident miles away from the fire documented ash falling from the sky.As of late Saturday night, fire officials said the blaze has scorched about 1,500 acres. Crews continue to battle the fire under harsh conditions, including strong winds and high heat.
