The group started with a hundred people but quickly swelled to an estimated two thousand.The rally was peaceful though disruptive to motorists as demonstrators holding signs with the messages "Black Lives Matter" and "I can't breathe" marched through residential streets and making their onto Interstate 8. VIDEO: Incident between La Mesa officer, man at trolley station surfacesThere was a tense moment during the march when protesters faced off with a CHP skirmish line at the I-8 on-ramp at El Cajon Blvd. About a dozen officers held off the large group for several minutes before several of the protesters broke through enabling nearly all of them to make their way onto the eastbound lanes of I-8.SWAT officers were called to the scene on I-8 and formed a skirmish line across all lanes near El Cajon Blvd. The march diverted back to the La Mesa Police Department.A few dozen demonstrators remained on the highway effectively shutting down all lanes.The calm ended when the large group gathered outside of the La Mesa Police Department and began attacking a bear cat vehicle that was brought in to help disperse the crowd.Officers used flash bangs and tear gas on the crowd temporarily emptying out the parking lot. TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (KGTV) -- Three Cal Fire firefighters based in San Diego were injured after the engine they were riding in flipped over, ABC30 reports. The incident happened around 8:30 a.m. near Avenue 56 and Road 250 in rural Tulare County, the station reports. The driver of the engine reportedly lost control, causing the vehicle to flip over and injuring four firefighters. Three firefighters were injured and taken to the hospital following the rollover. Cal Fire says two of the firefighters have since been released while the third will remain in the hospital overnight for observation. The crew is based in San Diego and were heading home from battling the Creek Fire when the crash took place. 719

Two California men were taken into custody for reportedly dancing naked on a boat near Lake Havasu in Arizona on Saturday.According to a release from the Mohave County Sheriff's Office, 38-year-old Jason Michael Faust and 37-year-old Robert Paul Yow were each arrested for felony indecent exposure. Officials say deputies had received a call that Faust and Yow were seen dancing naked on their boat at The Sandbar, north of Lake Havasu. The caller told authorities that three children, all under the age of 15, were present during this incident. When the family tried to confront Faust and Yow about their behavior, they reportedly became aggressive, and, "continued to show their genitals to the family."As deputies arrived, they observed that Faust, who was the driver of the boat, was inconsistent with his speed and made erratic changes in direction. Officials say both men reportedly admitted to taking their clothes off. Neither acknowledged knowing that children were present at the time, officers reported. Faust reportedly told deputies, “It’s the lake, it’s just what you do," and admitted that he had been drinking around since 7 a.m. but would not submit to a breath or field sobriety tests.  1267

Two dogs were rescued after they were left inside a hot car in Brooklyn Saturday afternoon.NYPD Emergency Service Unit responded to 64th Street in Brooklyn and quickly gained access to the dogs, NYPD Special Ops said on Twitter.Oxygen was administered as the dogs were getting cooled down by officers.Both dogs were taken to the animal hospital where one is in critical condition with a strong heartbeat, police said.The dogs’ owner was arrested.Saturday’s temperatures reached highs in the 80s and low 90s. Tropical Depression Thirteen formed over the Atlantic late Wednesday night, and according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) the storm is expected to strengthen into Tropical Storm Laura on Thursday.Thirteen is about 830 miles east-southeast of the Northern Leeward Islands, according to NHC’s 8 a.m. update.
