Every Thursday before the sun rises, the line of cars forms. They are filled with residents like Suzanne Bridges."I get up at 4 in the morning; I’m here by 4:30,” she explained.Bridges and all the others in line are waiting for a necessity to live.“Water. As it stretches down the street and around the block, it becomes clear how the Flint water crisis continues to live on.“As you can see, the lines after five years are still very, very long, and the need does not seem to get any better,” said resident Sandra Jones.Every week, Jones is at the front of the line.She runs the RL Jones Community Center, which hands out cases of bottled water to people who live in the City of Flint.“I’ve seen it all because I’m out here with them, and if you don’t have a heart, I don’t even understand. Where is the compassion?” Jones said.Jones was in Flint in 2014 when the water crisis started. The city’s water supply was switched to the Flint River to save money.Aging pipes contaminated the water, exposing around 100,000 people to elevated levels of lead. Lead poisoning can cause irreversible developmental issues, specifically in children.A state of emergency was declared in 2016.“I’ve seen what this lead has done,” Jones said. “I've seen children who have not been able to say complete sentences because their cognitive skills are not there. I’ve seen parents who have not been able to potty train a child at 4 years old, and these people come through these lines that hurts my heart.”In June of 2019, at a National Press Club event, Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Andrew Wheeler said Flint’s water is safe to drink.“We test their water on a regular basis. We’re working with the local city, as well as the state,” Wheeler said. “We’re still providing bottled drinking water to people if they need it, but at this point, the water quality in Flint, Michigan is safe to drink.”But in Flint, trust in the water and the government has run dry.“Even though they say it’s safe to drink, we still are afraid of drinking the water,” said Steven Atkins, a Flint resident."It’s something that we have to have. It’s important that we need it, but now we just can’t trust it,” said resident VanNessa Taylor.In August, the state of Michigan agreed to a 0 million settlement with those impacted by the water crisis, and 80 percent of the money will go to children.Jones says that money will only go so far. Transparency must bring back trust.“That’s where we are,” she said. “This was a marriage and you cheated on me for your benefit, not for my benefit.”Jones says the pandemic has made giving bottled water away even more difficult. She’s faced a shortage of volunteers to give away the water to the cars that come through. She says the lines grow outside her community center each week, six years after the Flint water crisis first began.However, Jones says she will continue to fill trunk after trunk until the cars no longer need to come through.“This city has got to get back whole again. (KGTV) - California representatives are calling on the government to fund the Storm Damage Reduction Project, hoping to stabilize cliffs along North San Diego County beaches.At Grandview Beach in Encinitas flowers surrounded the beach entrance sign Thursday. Down on the beach caution tape hung around the cliffs, serving as a somber reminder of the three women who died three weeks ago after a bluff collapse.Two days before the tragedy, Representative Mike Levin said he asked for federal funds to stabilize the cliffs from Encinitas to Solana Beach. "It's long past time for the federal government to uphold its responsibility here," he said.He championed the Storm Damage Reduction Project that was approved by Congress in 2016.The project would dredge tons of sand from the ocean and dump it on the beach to protect the cliffs from powerful, eroding waves.Environmentalists are concerned that would destroy tidal ecosystems. A study conducted by researchers at Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California San Diego states invertebrate populations were negatively affected by tons of sand dumped on Imperial Beach.Surfrider Foundation sent 10News this statement:“We understand Solana Beach and Encinitas have been working with the federal government on the San Diego County Shore Protection Project for years and it was approved in 2016 by Congress. When the project was being considered in 2015, the Federal EPA encouraged the Army Corps. to think more deeply about future sea level rise and the efficacy of this project. Thorough monitoring is going to be of the utmost importance to see how this project impacts coastal ecosystems (including Marine Protected Areas) and impacts to recreation (such as surfing, snorkeling, etc.). ERIE, Colo. — A woman says the man she met online and dated for a month-and-a-half robbed her of thousands of dollars worth of valuables, tried to pawn them for cash, and then disappeared. Police have now issued a warrant for his arrest.“I let him into my world completely and I was completely betrayed,” Michelle Cohagan said.She met Joshua Law on the site Plenty of Fish. They dated for a few weeks and became close, with Law spending a lot of time at her Erie home. One night, Cohagan noticed that two of her digital cameras and her roommate’s GoPro camera went missing. A few days later, Law disappeared.“I haven’t seen or heard from him,” she said.Law originally told her he had plans to close on a house nearby. Then he claimed he had to fly across the country for a family emergency. The realtor of the home was the one to tell Cohagan that Law wasn’t actually buying the home. That’s when she noticed even more things were gone.“My grandmother’s wedding ring, a mother’s ring, pearls my father had given me,” she said.“She had about ,500 worth of items between her and her roommate that had been stolen,” Erie Police Department Commander Michael Haefele said.Now Erie PD are involved. They’ve been able to track Law and the missing items to multiple local pawn shops.“We were able to get a signed arrest warrant for the suspect in the case,” Haefele said.“He had been taking and pawning my things since pretty much two weeks in,” Cohagan added. “I think he’s a sociopath. I think he’s a con artist.”She said that she’s spoken to at least two other women who say they dated Law. The stories of falling in love and being ripped off were similar.Police do not know where Law is at the moment. The warrant for his arrest is out, and local towns and law enforcement agencies are aware.
