The year 2020 has proven it knows how to challenge people who live in places like the Gulf Coast.Multiple storms slammed the state of Louisiana and the city of Lake Charles.Dr. Tyson Green lost his home in Hurricane Laura in August. His family evacuated before the storm as he rode it out in a Lake Charles hospital so he could be close to his patients.His community now faces a recovery that is expected to take years.“I don't know how you begin to put it into words, to be honest with you. We’ve had a tough year, to say the least," Green said. "I think with the combination of the pandemic, the hurricanes, the resurgence of the pandemic that beat us while we were down, it’s been rough, but we are getting better we are coming together as a community."Since the storm, he's raised money for nurses and healthcare workers who were impacted by Mother Nature this year. The money raised is key, especially during the holiday season."It was such a blessing to be able to give them something through the GoFundMe efforts that we did. The ability to give them a better Christmas, people that lost everything, even the people who lost what they had and were reimbursed by whatever means insurance or FEMA, they still didn't have the means. This election season, Demetrius Short is hustling to get his people to the polls.“We have the wonderful opportunity as African American men to be here today,” Short said to a group of young African American voters outside a polling site in Nashville, Tennessee. “The next John Lewis might be right here.”Short is the founder and CEO of the Transformation Life Center and Steps of Success 5K, nonprofits mentoring youth living in underserved communities. Now, Short and his team are using physical fitness to inspire political change by leading young Black men on runs and talking about becoming better people afterwards.“Going out, taking your niece and nephew that may not have a father, being that father or mother example to them and just be the change you want to see,” Short said.During this presidential election, Short is reaching out to college students from Fisk University, a private historically Black college in Nashville.“We’re here to come out here and inspire change in our community and inspire young people to really vote,” said Myles Harris, a recent Fisk University graduate.Harris says he is motivated to get more members of African American communities to have their voices heard and their votes counted.“A lot of people don’t vote because they don’t see the point, they don’t understand why it’s so important,” he said.Many members in the local African American community do understand the importance of this election and are calling this political movement inspiring.“Us Black folks are still fighting. This data hack is huge -- 1.4 billion passwords are now floating around on the dark web. In December, a massive data leak was discovered, and many computer gurus are capable of accessing the information, said cybersecurity expert Dan Petro. "Certainly like one of the biggest password leaks ever," said Petro.Hackers combined smaller lists with new hacked data into one massive database."If you're like almost everybody else, you probably just have one password or maybe a small set of passwords you use for basically everything. So having these leaked online is threatening not just to your one account but perhaps all the other ones," Petro said.Rob Hanna was one of the many internet users whose password was exposed. Within seconds of accessing the database, someone could easily find his hacked password and email."I’m really quite stunned about that. That's scary. And I've been pretty careful about trying to really manage that for a lot of years," said Hanna.Even if your bank account password is different, Petro said with access to your email account, hackers can get into your bank using the "forgot password" feature. It often emails you a link that lets you or a hacker set up a new password.Security experts recommend frequently changing passwords, using hard-to-guess passwords. For those who have a tough time remembering passwords, something called 2-factor authentication can help.Most email services let you turn it on in your settings. Thousands of infant and child strollers are being recalled because of concerns children could become trapped and strangle themselves in the straps.The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a recall of three models of Costway strollers, roughly 16,000 strollers are impacted.
